I have no doubt that Mick with nearly 1800 posts is well able to look after himself. The fella that came in defending you is like the third man tackle and a black card to him would certainly be justified.

Great man you are Eoin. You also told Mick not be cocky because he predicted to win with a bit to spare, but in the same sentence said you predicted Sligo to win with a bit to spare. One rule for you, another for everyone else is it.

Any reasoning behind a 7.15 start for the league final on saturday in Croker? or is that the norm?

You must have some kind of a problem. Mick and I are exchanging good natured banter but you are ploughing in mad for trouble..

Replying To Claretandblue:  "Earlier poster had it right when commenting that we need a big performance next Saturday, We can't afford a heavy defeat next Saturday and go into championship on the back of three games without winning. Big prize at stake but a similar display to today will be unacceptable, Sligo would not have been flattered had the margin been 10-12 points, as it was they won the second half 1-10 to 0-5, fitness seemed an issue but that might be freshness, if we lose on Saturday we're prob depending on Leinster final appearance to qualify for Sam Maguire as Clare or a division 4 Munster side guaranteed Munster final, our league final is arguably the one with potentially the biggest prize of all four next weekend. Dessie is commenting about players being tired, I hope they enjoy a few deserved pints tonight together and are given the week off before Down game. Tactically we know Down, the extra game could help before championship."
Dessie comments about players being tired at least i hope explain yesterdays performance. Many on the Panel are travelling for in excess of three hour to and from training, When combined with training and heavy games bodies get exhausted, these are amature player with full time work / studies.
Claretandblue comments re-needing rest before the next big game (6 days after the last) ring true.

What about people working? That would mean Leitrim match at 1.00 or 1.15?

Dessie has come out a lot lately moaning about stuff in the papers, that was a shocking display at the weekend, people saying it was a dead rubber, what if Clare had won. To Lose to Sligo by the margin we did is not a good state of affairs, Clare should have beaten us, Down should have beaten us. Scraped over the line in all the other games really except Offaly.
Promotion was secured which was the goal which is great but no progression on those good performances last year vs Armagh and Tyrone,
Dessie Moaning about the way football is gone, he's the manager and he has the ability to play a better more attacking style of football. We looked scared to attack and very robotic, i think this is the reason why many county players dont stand out for there clubs because they dont take risks or try anything different.

People need to realize Dessie has done a great job with this current group of players. With the amount of players we have missed throughout the league it is a miracle we got promotion.

My starting 15 for championship against Kildare in 3 weeks (If we beat Wicklow)

1. Jason Daly
2. Dan Scahill
3. Charile Drumm
4. Jack Smith
5. Ronan Wallace
6. Kevin Maguire
7. David Lynch
8. Ray Connellen
9. Andy McCormack
10. Sam McCartan
11. Ronan O Toole
12. Jonathan Lynam
13. Luke Loughlin
14. John Heslin
15. Robbie Forde

Does anyone disagree? or make any changes?

Yesterday's defeat isn't a huge surprise when you look at the performances in the previous games, I think a number of players are picked on their ability to cover ground and play it safe rather than play with a little freedom and flair. Two if not three of our forwards are just not going to get scores against good defenders. Senan Baker who admittedly hasn't been firing and Conor McCormack surely would add to the forward line. Lorcan Dolan also seems to be completely cast aside after starting the first two games. Kieran is an impact sub if we are being serious about progressing, he has done great to come back from a serious injury but is 35 next year and very few players are still playing at that age. Down in Croke Park will be difficult, but we could easily turn them over at the same time.

The team is like to see in the championship if everyone is fit and available:

Daly
Smith Maguire Scahill
Wallace Lynchy Harte
Connellan McCormack
McCartan Tooler Lynam
Loughlin Heslin McCartan

There are a couple of players that could be different such as corner back, wing forward and corner forward.

The really disappointing aspect apart from the performance was how flat everything was at the final whistle, a huge Westmeath crowd in attendance, promotion secured but the Westmeath support just felt empty, it's a long walk from the pitch back to the train station but there was zero buzz among our supporters, understandably after what they had watched, Andy McCormack stood out on the pitch but he was the exception, Dessie is well able to moan after matches re injured players but Sligo were short 3-4 championship starters, a number of their supporters were wondering how we had secured promotion on the basis of how much they outplayed us

Surely we can't use fatigue as an excuse if every other team is dealing with same conditions ? Injuries have been a problem but most counties dealing with same . The performance was absolutely shambolic , worrying how we almost seem to give up the ghost be early in 2nd half when game was still in balance . The one issue for all counties I think that is a scandal is having championship straight away week after league finals . Putting all that aside a win Saturday is essential, need to put things right before championship

Big game for u20s against Dublin tomorrow in Kinnegad. Not much known about the panel it seems. hopefully Brian cooney and Shane Corcoran will cause problems for Dublin. Any other noteworthy players?
