Who are some great minors who never made it to senior grade be it club or county (hurling or football)? For one reason or another sometimes work, family, lack of interest, fallout or socializing gets in the way. Just interested to get a blast from the past. Some Myshall, Tinryland, Palatine and Bagnelstown players springing to mind from a football perspective.

He had a fairly good excuse of for it. To be fair.

Dwayne Kavanagh (Myshall) was maybe the best underage hurler I ever saw in Carlow. But he never kicked on at adult level. Declan Somers (O'Hanrahan's/Carlow Town) was also a very good juvenile, who didn't play much at senior.

Sean Foley another example.

As an aside, is the fall off in Carlow minor and u20 hurling in any way related to the loss of Eoin Garvey as a teacher in Bagenalstown? That school produced some super players during this time there.

Another teacher who did a lot for Carlow GAA was the late Padraig Cunnane, in Tullow.

On a side-note when are the county board and teams in Carlow Going to take the D1 league serious, Last year final still not Played, Again this year only 7 teams started the league with MLR being allowed compete in D2 and then Bagnelstown pulled out, Its a shit show and unfair to players. With no relegation this year teams just give walk overs and its a little fine and nothing else done, This fines need to be deterrents to teams not an easy out, Teams who want to play senior championship they need to play D1 league.

They made a total mess of div 1, I've always said it's not a league if there is no relagation, what's happened this year was totally predictable, you have senior teams playing lads who won't be anywhere nest the panel when championship comes. It's really just a few friendly games

What a sensational result for Carlow against Kilkenny and richly deserved! Hope ye can build on the great progress made so far this season to become serious contenders for a Leinster title in the near future.

Ten of us,watching Twitter updates in Craobh after our game.

Fair play. Biggest upset in history of championship hurling. Beyond doubt.

Congratulations.

Great morale booster for our neighbours. That was magnificent, or to quote that annoying ad for the minor championships - this was major.
