Wasn't pretty but our guys did really well considering the huge loss of Daniel Flynn, Jimmy Hyland, Paul Cribbing and Feely. Then a man down for mist of the second half. Wouldn't have thought we'd be anywhere near division 1 at start of the season. St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1724 - 13/06/2021 15:56:38 2350228 Link 4 |
Kildare totally dominated 1st 50 mins, ended up hanging on a bit, Meath very poor today for so long, Kildare backs excellent and showed strength in depth after losing Dan Flynn b4 the game and Jimmy Hyland and Paul Cribbin in 1st qtr. Both teams suffered injuries to key players during the game, which could hurt in championship, but today was more important than upcoming championship, looking at the game today we are better equipped for Div 1 than Meath, though staying up will be a great achievement. Commiserations also to Clare who were unlucky to draw Mayo and could easily be Div 1 next season, they were the best team we played. Due to a mini medical emergency with my young son didn't see second half. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 13/06/2021 16:16:58 2350242 Link 0 |
Winning margin very kind to Meath, beaten all over the field by a much better organised team. Kildare made it hard for themselves in last 20 min., but full value for win. seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2215 - 13/06/2021 16:25:07 2350250 Link 7 |
Kildare should fear Div one, seem to have gradually improved sense semi final last year. Just need to convert more of your chances. Should have won this one pulling up.

We did win pulling up…

Ye absolutely deserved the win but stretching it a bit to say you won pulling up, did you not see your goalie saving a last minute close range shot which, had it went in would have sent the game into extra time. That type of win is called hanging on rather than winning pulling up.

Just say ye didn't see 2nd half, we don't need to know why. I'm sure if Meath had have won you would have known all about it instead of floating questions around.

Fair play to Kildare . Makes for a good div 1 next season hopefully. If it was 10 team division Galway & get there act together cork you would have a cracking league with a straight knockout championship.. Theliveshow (Armagh) - Posts: 13 - 13/06/2021 18:51:44 2350378 Link 5 |
Hope all is well, missed nothing, we raised a bit of a gallop in last 15 min, but well beaten, scoreline flattered us, on the brightside see your stalker is still tracking your every post. Such is the price of fame.

"Very disappointed but that's football, we not good enough for division one if we couldn't win this one"True but not far off. Sport can be competitive and won on fine margins and there isn't much between these two teams, I feel some Meath people took too much from the 5 goal second half in the Leinster championship. Kildare were completely lacking in fitness and desire, which they obviously had today. Being Kildare they had to give us a scare in the end but great for this team to head into Division 1 in 2022. jonno (Kildare) - Posts: 261 - 13/06/2021 19:28:52 2350404 Link 3 |
Kildare subs outscored Meaths starting forwards. cuttothebone (Kildare) - Posts: 168 - 13/06/2021 20:02:14 2350436 Link 5 |
Why so bitter ? Why come on a division 2 forum to have a pop at someone ? Sounds very imature and bitter. If you have a problem with someone prob not best to have a pop while they have an emergency at home just like your forum name say nothing.

I'll hold my hands up about the Mini emergency but are Div 1 team supporters not allowed to visit Div 2 forums? Our royal correspondent rubs a lot of people up the wrong way, so as long as i'm not being nasty (unlike some ) i'll carry on.

Andy McEntee claims the Meath full back was spat at in the face prior to his red card. If this is the case the culprit needs to be outed and given the mother and father of all suspensions. Its the most cowardly thuggish act you could do on a sports pitch. Given how much work has gone into getting games back up and running this year with all the covid precautions and protocols. Horan plays off the cuff attacking football which with the players we have will outscore and beat most teams but unfortunately won't be enough to beat Dublin or Kerry.
