Many of the pitches were ok to play but there was a county wide weather warning. There was no consideration for the H&S and welfare of players and coaches travelling who were expected to travel for 40mins each way. I think the county board would not have reacted only for the many queries sent their way. It was the county boards decision. Dublin county board made the call when the weather warning was released. The weather warning was for Saturday only. We trained Friday night on our pitch in heavy rain with the grounds in perfect condition. Our match was fixed for the Sunday morning at 11am with everyone saying the same thing that our pitch was one of the best in the county and at least there was no way our match would be postponed. Other clubs were even looking for our pitch as they knew theirs would be unplayable. We got a message late Saturday evening of the postponement with everyone really annoyed. We are now under pressure to fit in this fixture asap but lads have based weekends away on the fixture plan. We are a small club with many lads in different parts of the country at college. It also took a full week for the fixtures committee to meet (friday night) and now demand to fit in fixtures asap!

I heard this also which will lead to a whole pile of bluffing/lying to get other team to pull. I have a certain sympathy for fixtures organisers but we are going to have weeks of no games during the Summer and having to play with /watch teams up to their ankles in muck at this time of year makes no sense. Even if the leagues were staggered i.e. no Senior or Junior league until a couple of months time when pitches are better and evenings are brighter. It's not the plan. It's someone on a wind up. Therell probably be a few games, maybe 10 at most but all in agreement with the clubs. Would you rather it go ahead behind closed doors or not go on at all? For me, a big part of following the gaa is the crowd, be it a local game, or a game in Croke Park. Not sure if your on bout corona but that text sent before all that happened. Im on bout no fixtures were to b changed for any excuse.then bit bad weather and go head work it out yourselfs.dont want lose face that it wasnt really bulletproof.i know they have difficult job.but i know from experience if you tried later on in year to work games out yourelselves b shot down.post virus that is.

Not sure fits in here,, But did't want to start another thread,, anyone know when Gaa facilities will be open again. In particular gym facilities in clubs. Lucky to have a state of the art gym in our club which has obviously been closed. Doesn't make much sense to leave these idle and private ones open back open again, and people having to travel extra 20k in my case round trip to nearest gym. Rumour has it Gyms, hairdressers and the other shops are opening next week so I'd imagine clubs would be able to do the same.The 5km restrictions are to be lifted and replaced with travel inside your own county.That said I'm not sure if the GAA has rules for clubs or leave it up to individual clubs to open or not.

Private gyms were allowed open for periods of reduced lock-down as will next week. However the Gaa blanket ban on its facilities overrides this and is different.
