Best Young Talents 2020

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'll start off with Matthew Tierney from Galway, still eligible for the U20's this year but fully expect him to team up with the Galway Senior team after Intermediate club final which his club is in. Tierney is an exceptional talent and a great free taker too

Is Ciaran Archer part of the Dublin panel this year?

Any of those Cork lads from last years u20's expected to make an impact this year?

Darragh Walsh if he can get a break away from injuries is outstanding talent. Currently with Ros U20s and should be joining up with the senior panel later.

Archer is still u20. He played for them against Kildare in the John Kerin cup. O Mahony and Gore have featured in the McGrath cup for Cork. Both very good. Conor turbitt from Armagh, Oisin Mullins Mayo, Robert Finnerty gave an incredible display up front for NUIG, Shane Walsh from Meath, Jack Robinson from Kildare. Diarmuid Whelan from Laois.

I'd be hopeful that Peadar Mogan could make an impact for Donegal this year.

Although we've seen them in action already in 2019 I'd be expecting Niall O'Donnell and Oisin Gallen to really push on this year.

Jack Robinson will be Kildares break out star this year. Eligible for U20 in 2018 when they won the All Ireland and considered as talented, if not more so than Jimmy Hyland. Perhaps the lack of all Ireland medal will spark him to outshine those ages!

Yep, said as much on one of these forums two years ago and have been waiting for him to commit since. Very talented footballer.

Players that haven't made any appearance for Kerry in league or championship to date that I expect to get game time in the league are Paudie Clifford, Barry Mahony and Liam Kearney. I also hope Daniel O'Brien makes a few appearances, he is a very good back but is injury prone. He is playing for UCC at the moment. Outside of Kerry I think Paul Ring of Cork could have an impact, a real tenacious corner back. Robert Finnerty looked very good for NUIG while Peadar O'Cofaigh Byrne is an interesting proposition for Dublin.

I'd say Oisin Mullin could make an impact for Mayo seniors after the U20 stuff is finished. Also Jordan Flynn.

What about Walsh who won minor footballer of the year in 2018, is he likely to appear this season? The Clifford lad who won that award in 2017 has done alright in the games he has got.

No he's no where near appearing this year. He's not even the best forward on the u20 team. I always thought he was a bit overrated due to his hair and that another player on that minor team Paul O'Shea was better than him. It will be at least 2 years before Walsh gets Senior game time. No u20 will play for the Seniors this year unless Donal O'Sullivan tears up the u20 championship but I think this year will be too soon for him and anyway full forward is our most competitive line.

"The two cians" as they are known locally from an Offaly perspective. Ie Johnson and farrell. Both had sparkling underage careers and johnson got club senior player of the year after taking ferbane to the county championship.

Definetely two to watch.

I saw a lad play for Louth last season at minor, he was incredible, i cant remember his name but he was honestly one of the best minors i had ever seen, small sample mind.

Thats really unhelpful i know, maybe one of the Louth lads can clear it up.I presume he must be touching under 20 grade, if he was Dub or any of the other S8 counties im sure there would be a big fuss about him.

Anyway a lad from Louth! ;)

Looking like Peader Mogan is ready to make the step up for Donegal this year. Had an excellent run with the club and has sprung physically over the past few months. Can play in numerous positions and is a very intelligent footballer. Another to mention from Donegal is Paddy Dolan. Very strong and athletic can play on either half lines. Might be a year or two too soon but no doubting his talent. As already mentioned expect Niall O'Donnell to really establish himself this year again. Hopefully along with Oisin Gallen if he recovers from injury. Donegal have a talented under 20 side this year who went under the radar at under 17. They pushed the eventual all Ireland winners all the way even missing some of their best players who were controversially taken away by the minor management the same year. Unfortunately injury will deny them Gallen and one Connor O'Donnell who is an exceptionally talented player. They do have Aaron Doherty who is certainly one to watch out for maybe more so next year.
