Tommy Bowe? Yeh, sure with PDs Ulster rugby contacts, that's a no-brainer.

Apparently Banty asked Tommy Freeman back, to play in goals.
Anything is possible with that man.

Not a wind up at all and by all accounts Douglas has been moving extremely well at full forward in 2 trial games he played in..

Banty is so unpredictable it wouldn't surprise me. He probably has Rory Beggan down for playing out the field this year.

Given we have been so predictable the last few years then maybe unpredictability will work.

So does Bantys version of 'blooding new lads', involve 38 year olds?! Good grief...

Isn't there a charity game between Monaghan and Cavan in December? surely this is what Douglas involvement is about?

I remember Douglas playing against Derry in the ulster minor championship. He was midfield with Eoin Lennon that day (a really shitty damp day in Celtic park) and Douglas looked like a serious GAA prospect. Twas, a pity to lose him to soccer.

in fairness age is only a number if the man is producing the goods. Johnny Doyle played with kildare until he was near 40 and the Waterford Keeper made his intercounty debut last year at 47

We're a small county so can't be thumbing our noses at anyone but you don't come back from 10-12 years of playing a professional sport and play Gaelic at a high level. Tommy Walsh is 3 or 4 years home from Australia and his kicking from the hand is still not returned. Aaron McCarey was a great minor but there's a world of difference between that and a senior player. At minor level, McCarey's build gave him a huge advantage, that advantage has gone. And again, if he is playing soccer for anyone next year and getting paid, that's the end of that. Douglas is at an age where a player is considering retiring from inter county.

Replying To Newmember:  "So now that league and championship is over is it fair to say the 2 winners where the 2 best teams .

What about all clubs going forward

Mangers and player retirement

Blayney Manager staying but mc Ardle & Hannraty retiring
Latton manager gone Bob & Hughie retiring
Ballybay manager staying but Jap retiring
Truagh manager gone nobody retiring
Scotstown manager gone but nobody retiring
Doohamlet manager gone but nobody retiring
Curran manager staying Dick retiring
Carrick manager staying nobody retiring
Clontiberit everybody staying

Any other news"
Not so sure carrick should be looking to get rid of their manager, has them playing a great brand of football considering the shortage of tools at their disposal. did'nt see much from some of their bigger players in the championship, apart from the o'hanlons. Be a shame not to see them playing more for the county under banty, although he's probably going to be going back 15 years and looking to lump it into benny mckenna! Truagh have a decent team, a few good young players there, need a few more players and a decent manger over them to do anything of consequence though..should go for Gerard Treanor next year, i hear he was a roaring success in cavan, until he was laughed out of it! Currin will be all the better without dick, he wasnt fit to keep the pace anymore. As for scotstown, they looked an old team in the final and should look to blood a few of the younger lads whove been doing so well for them in junior, maybe they should look to their junior management to take them forward, the hughes brothers and beggan will still have a big say in the championship for years to come. Ballybay should look about a change in management, seriously strong team that has massively underachieved. Jap would be the man for the job. blayney are in trouble and with two good teams coming up, should be nervous. Latton look a force too, just need a few more years of development in the younger lads, massivley outplayed by a hungry clontibret, who were excellent in the final and have a good structure to the club they'll be staying back on top for a few years to come!!
