Leinster SFC draw 2020: semi-final draw not made yet

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The Leinster Council have done the draw for the first round and quarter-finals of next year's Leinster senior football championship. It seems the Connacht and Munster draws will happen tomorrow morning, and the Ulster draw will be on Wednesday (according to RnaG if I understood it right).

Does anyone know why they're all being done separately this year? And why did Leinster draw up to the quarter-finals and then stop?

Meath avoid Kildare and Dublin again. This gives use a realistic chance of making the leinster final. If we are lucky enough to make it, hopefully Andy rests his first 15 for the 4th round qualifier to come after.

I'd say he couldn't rest his first fifteen against Kilkenny

You are incorrect.

Semi Final draw to take place after the 1/4's

Meath not guaranteed a Leinster Final place just yet.....

Due to the draw of the Leinster Championship Meath qualify for the Super 8's. A team that will struggle in Div 1 and are probably around 8th to 15th in the country miss the competitive games others will have to go through to take their place in end of season round robin competition :-)

I think it's a good change. Keeps a bit of excitement back. The Leinster championship needs something to give it a buzz, playing a quarter final already knowing that the Dubs await in the semifinals and a long qualifier road awaits takes away from the excitement of the quarterfinals a bit.

What's the current capacity? They might try and fix it for Navan or Tullamore.

It seems I jumped the gun. Looks like anyone can get Dublin in the semis.

I thought semi-final was an open draw this year? If we win quarter we can get any of the other winners, or am I reading it wrong?

Let's hope so. Dubs all on for it. They don't allow us to travel enough.

To be honest, id say the concern was lads leaving for the year. take Daniel Flynn, he went off for the year as you knew fairly early on after the draw it could be a very quiet year glory wise, or a tough one going through a good few rounds of the qualifiers given they were down to play Dublin on the Leinster Semi, so he could make a decision last winter to pick last year to take the year out. I dont know for certain if that was his reason, but id say it certainly came into his thinking.

Maybe this way is a better way, given the above but its a patch up job on a leaky deck, the provincials are a waste of time in Leinster and good for no one and badly need to be scrapped.

No, it's always been that way; it's just that this time, they're waiting for the quarters to be finished before doing the semi-final draw.

That seems like a good reason alright!

Yeah look I'd agree with all of that.

Waste of time, we will give them a better game, what did ye manage last year, 0-4 was it, good God.

Did not realise Kildare had got a bye to semi-final.
