Up For The Final...

(Oldest Posts First)

Has anyone noticed in recent years, RTEs up for the final is not at all the programme it used to be...there is very little (if any) clips of old matches between the participants, or say the last final they won if its one or two of the teams arein the final for the first time. The show now is predominantly talk talk talk, (about tactics on how one team beat the other a year or 2 before in many of the games)with relatively modern day stars sporting cringy outfits and their witt (theres always one) seems to have everyone laughing at nothing really...the music bits are good in fairness, then the chance to win the trip to somefar off land...the panel now rarely have any decent chat with former players in the audience (if you can remember them you might be lucky to catch glimpses of them in the crowd)...clips of former games now only go back no more than 10 years or more, and the only time they literally never show a much older match , I dont know, up for the final has become, too modern and boring, and if you have the patience to sit through it you wont remember much if anything from it again...just an observation...

It's always been brutal. I'd sooner chew nettles or watch repeats of trom agus eadrom than watch it.

Very poor show in general and it's just more of the same old RTE safe bet stuff and no real imagination or talent involved. Musicians can sometimes be ok but having guys like AOM on who are about as interesting as, well, A O'Mahony doesn't help.
In fairness to the older guys they were more entertaining and didn't take themselves too seriously.
Jacqui Hurley does seem less uptight though as the co presenter and is more relaxed about the whole thing.
I hope it's not on again though before the replay.

Would have made a great background for a Fr Ted episode. Reminiscent of the lovely girls competition run by Ted.
Guaranteed to put insomniacs to sleep.
