I may be deluded, but I have a good feeling about Kerry in this one. Maybe it's Keane reprising O'Dwyer's old-school charm by praising the opposition. As a kid, I always used to marvel at the contract between MOD's softly-spoken politeness about the opposition and the ruthlessness which his teams then dispatched said opposition. That kind of flattery usually is a sign of a team covering up a ferocious attitude. Also, the semi v Tyrone will have brought Kerry on. And Kerry has very cleverly put the ref on notice; they'll not be on the wrong side of any harsh calls. In recent years, teams have stood off Dublin too much and admired them. I predict that Kerry will give them hell from the start; and, provided the ref doesn't break their momentum with a few cynical frees, I can see Kerry shading what should be a great battle. For my money, the greatest team of all time was Kerry 70s and 80s. This game will shape GAA history. Oh to be young and match-fit and to be able to have a cut off Dublin! Kerry players, more than any other team, well understand the significance and they will play with a ferocious attitude and will leave it all on the pitch. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 27/08/2019 12:16:21 2229746 Link 1 |

I get the feeling, funnily enough, there seems to be more burden/expectation on this Kerry team to stop the 5 in a row than on Dublin to win. '82 was also a very different senario as that Offaly team had been coming for awhile witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 27/08/2019 12:47:15 2229764 Link 0 |

And also probably had the greatest player/forward to ever play the game.
