Replying To ulsterrules:  "Going to be a great game hard hitting with some of the greatest Donegal players of the generation on show Leo Mc, 2 McGee's, Cassidy, Ordhan whats not to get excited about.

On paper it has to be Gweedore but you have to love the smart way Glenties set up and the heart they play with, 3rd final in a row shows their class and ability."
I concur really looking forward to it. Glenties will be able to physically match up against Gweedore around the middle an area where Kilcar struggled. However will they have enough scoring threat? Gweedore can play it any way but I don't see Glenties making this a shootout so patience will be to the fore. I just think Gweedore will have that bit more. There was a maturity and confidence in their semi final win that was really impressive and they for me are not just warm favourites at the weekend but also favourites to retain Ulster. Gweedore by 3-4 points.

Replying To ryan:  "How do we see teams setting-up on Sunday. If anyone has watched Gaothdobhair they play a very defensive, counter-attacking game. How will the Glenties men approach the game do people think? If they can stop Gaothdobhair from scoring goals, they will have a chance."
Hi ryan: I tipped Kilcar on here a few weeks ago based solely on them being the form team up to that point. That went out the window in the semi-final. Now Gweedore find themselves in a similar situation with everyone tipping them to beat Naomh Conaill so the current holders need to be careful. Brian Mc Eniff saying in paper Naomh Conaill will have to come up with something different, what about a full forward line of Gallagher, Mc Guinness and Byrne to try and yield a goal or two, 3 big lads that would keep Gweedore on their toes and probably force Gillespie to go back and assist Neil. The 3rd match-up against Gweedore's Mc Fadden would have a height advantage for Naomh Conaill. St Eunans came to Gweedore first day out, locked up the defense and got a draw so food for thought there.

Replying To eunans4ever:  "We have won 5 from last 11 championships - only lost one.

Won numerous leagues

Won reserves and junior champ

Did the clean sweep at adult level winning senior , reserve, junior

Won senior c this year

About to do back to back league and champ doubles in reserves

Current u21 champ - prob win again this year

Dominated at underage

Won ulster at underage

But yea we are defo underachieving"
With a quarter of the population of the county living in Letterkenny, you are certainly underachieving. Most teams in the county are hard pressed to even field a reserve side so crowing about the fact that you are winning the reserve and third team championships is laughable.
The measure of any club is how its senior team is doing and well yours just isn't. Yes you have had plenty of underage success but this has not being translated into any progress at senior level. You have been haemoraging really good players for the last number of years now who are not being developed and walk away because they are being frustrated at not getting an even chance.
It's a great asset to have plenty of players and but its no asset when they are not being developed and just thrown to the wind. God but our club would love to have some of the players that ye have discarded. Off the top of my head I can think of at leat ten in the last two years alone. It has happened there again recently where ye went and played your reserve manager Mick Martin against Milford which caused another good and hungry young player to walk away because he wasn't getting a fair chance.

I never knew there were 40,000 living in Letterkenny.

Great to see Shane Ward having success last weekend winning the Leitrim senior championship with ManorHamilton. After getting shafted last year by Donegal Minor management and the county board hi, he has won a senior league and championship with a team that had been written off.

Yes, totally agree. A man who has much to offer Donegal GAA. He held his dignity and let his talking be done with his work. Only need to ask any players who have played under him what they think. Our minor management went on to make another mess this year and now they are after the u20s job.

Congrats to Shane who royally got shafted as u rightly put it total. Time has proven that Shane was probably the only quality part of that set up.

Ah here surely any talk of that set up in same breath as the vacant under 20 job is rubbish. They should be embarrassed to even get a mention with it.

Replying To himachechy:  "Eunans are to Donegal football what Dublin are to inter-county football. Eunans should be winning the vast majority of of competitions at all levels and going into Ulster and doing well. They have never done anything in Ulster.

Eunan's should be be gauging success against the best 'big town' clubs like Portlaoise and Dr. Crokes, not against Glenties or Kilcar"
Thank u for the comparison to Dublin

So you think we are the greatest team ever to play the game at club level ....

Never done anything in ulster ??

Our u16 won ulster 3 years ago and minors got beat in ulster final last year ...

We don't gage our success against kilcar - are you for real??

They have won 1 champ in 25 odd years - most overhyped team in history of our club football

Glenties are a terrific outfit - won 3 champ recently but have lost too many finals

Our biggest rivals over last 15 years was them and possibly our neighbors in the glen

Look at what the glen have done in comparison to Kilcar... they are a proper outfit

Replying To ulsterrules:  "Eunan's the DUBLIN of donegal club football, massive pick, deep pockets and all the arrogance you could want to boot ;-)

With all the long list of honours you mentioned in your post you should really be embarrassed by not winning 11 in a row and 4 or 5 uslter titles also ;-)"
Thank u also for comparing us to the greatest team ever to play the game

Deep pockets ??? How u figure that out??

Biggest pick - so ?? That doesn't kick the ball over the bar

Why have the other biggest towns in the county done nothing ?? Buncrana, twin towns etc...

There is 2 clubs in letterkenny

Gaa is far and above the minority sport in town

Replying To MuckrossHead:  "A lot of the "achievements" you list are at reserve, junior senior c, not to mention cheap talk about what you are going to do.

As things stand Eunan's are a mid table outfit and are a big only because of the truly enormous pick they have.

As a club they are practically non functional in that they attract practically no support of any description. Take the Mammies & Daddies out of it & there would be hardly anyone at their games with no need for anyone to spend their day getting cold at the gate.

There is a lot more to being a club than winning trophies."
What's wrong with having achievement at all levels - is that not what a complete club is about - competing on all fronts.

What cheap talk about what we are going to do - we will hammer kilcar today in reserve final .... today

Mid table outfit ?? We have never finished mid table in the league - silly statement

Enormous pick ?? What's kilcar excuse then comparing their pick to Glenswilly- that county final still hurts deep down

Slaughtneil have one of the smallest parish in the country - they don't moan about it - lazy excuses..

You kind of embarrassed yourself with your opening statement - but I'll humour you.

Do u really think 25% of population of donegal lives in letterkenny ?? Where are the other 20 odd thousand people hiding ?!

We have absolutely dominated club football at all levels for the last 20 years and u think we are underachieving??? How much more do u want us to win - seriously ?!

Absolute nonsense about not been able to field teams - Glenfin, Glenswilly for example field 3 adult teams and are among smallest clubs around.

What good players are we loosing that aren't been developed ??? Let's name these 10 your calling out over last 2 years?

You do realize that we have completely re-built our senior team over last few years??

6 players from reserves from last year are starting in seniors this year - we have youngest panel in the senior champ with numerous minors and u21 either current or over last 2 years playing - on what planet is that not developing players????

Which good hungry young player walked away not getting started against Milford ??

Are u in house watching training , going to see all our reserve and senior games and qualified to make call on team selection - No I think we will leave that to the mgr...

Disappointing final today, very little in the way of entertainment, 2 ACL injuries for gaoth dobhair, Gillespie particularly disheartening. Draw a fair result on balance although glenties had the game for the taking in the last 10. Rumour going round ballybofey today the p mcbrearty heading stateside next season.

It was a tight, nervy game and a draw was probably a fair result. Sickening to see Kieran Gillespie go off injured at half time. He had a large ice pack around his knee. Hopefully not too serious, the poor lad has been cursed with injuries.

The replay should be another tight one. Gaoth Dobhair will be looking to get their marquee players into the game more than they did today. For Glenties I'd say it will be a case of, same again lads. Thought they had a good shape about them today and they were well up for it.
