I'm still not quite sure what to make of this game. It's impossible to know how either team is approaching it. Whoever loses it will probably escape the critics due to bigger picture. It's an odd situation but an interesting one. Dublin don't like to lose and Tyrone have their pride, and they're playing at home, so I'd be wasting my time trying to call it. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8597 - 02/08/2019 14:25:33 2219778 Link 5 |

the big thing about this game is who actually gets to play in it. maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1197 - 02/08/2019 21:02:21 2219895 Link 0 |
Tyrone are expected to be beaten in this one and they will be. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 02/08/2019 23:04:40 2219932 Link 0 |
Whatever dublin team take the field they will beat Tyrone at their easy. Tyrone were extremely fortunate to be in an all ireland final last year and in my opinion are worse this year. Jonnycee (Longford) - Posts: 186 - 03/08/2019 00:31:37 2219944 Link 0 |
The Tyrone team for Sunday is a total change and I suppose is a result of having a semi final in one weeks time. The players who have played in all their games to date need rested for next weekend. It certainly raises issues about only a weeks break after the super 8s. Tyrone are very lucky to have such a panel of quality players but not all counties have such a privilege. It certainly raises questions about the super 8s border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 03/08/2019 07:39:15 2219960 Link 0 |
Teams out and both are as close to as expected, there will be more than likely be a few late changes to what is announced as we know but based on the teams we have seen I predict a close affair with possibly the dubs taking it by 3 or 4 in the end but we can all be sure that Tyrone will game for this one in their own backyard too. Imagine what win could do for Tyrone and how it could possibly effect Dublin mentally. Its hard too see Tyrone winning but I would love to see it. boman11 (Antrim) - Posts: 237 - 03/08/2019 09:04:35 2219979 Link 0 |
Tyrone have named their second string 15...still a good enough team to give the dubs a game of it while testing key players for the really big game next week. mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 03/08/2019 09:09:16 2219980 Link 0 |
Tyrone do not need to try a leg. Possible showdown with Kerry next Sunday will need all their energy, tactical thinking, and main players rested. Dublin will also have in my opinion a mega clash against Donegal who offer different problems from the norm for the Dubs. I cannot see this even having the intensity of a league game. The 4 names with most at stake on the Tyrone teamsheet are Paudy Hampsey, Michael Cassidy, Tiernan McCann and Richie Donnelly. Any of those have a chance of starting the semi-final, with Hampsey the most likely if he can prove his fitness against the Dubs. None of the other 11 will start next week. I thought that Tyrone would rest half the team, but the whole lot??

Interesting Dublin selection with 7 or 8 changes but I can't see that team starting. Lowndes at half forward? McDaid starting? Difficult to know but I can see a couple of tweaks before throw-in. Gavin won't want to lose even if there is little consequence. Would love to see Bernard and Dermo get a run.

Should a team be allowed to make 15 (or indeed 8) changes for a game at this stage of the c'ship? I understand the arguments about protecting players from injury and also not 'showing your hand' but this seems to be making a laugh of the competition. I know the Super 8 initiative is ridiculous but while it is in place it needs to be respected. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 03/08/2019 15:48:07 2220095 Link 0 |
Gavin will drop 2-3 more of his regular starters before throw in.

Wouldn't it be more in the GAAs court to be respectful of teams and players than having them play a semifinal 6 days later. They don't help the scenario at all with this sort of carry on.
