Mayo V Kerry

Certainly if we had a full deck we would have put it up to Kerry much better than Mayo today. Yet our average age starting last Sat week against Mayo was 24 to their 28. With what we had last wend though and no recognisable midfielder starting Kerry would have beaten us well. The u20s going well so we will be a force again next year and with the club done and dusted by January end will have the Corofin lads integrated in earlier presuming they go that far.

Well beaten all over the field. Kerry had their homework done and we couldn't win our own kick out. The odd ball we did win we gave away with poor foot passing. Kerry's forward play was very good and they will trouble any defense. Things we learned from this weekend. The Dubs as good as ever, Cork have something to build on, Tyrone good enough for a semi final spot but maybe just that, Ros justifying their Connacht title, Donegal good but jury still out. Meath better than we thought and will get better still, Kerry on the way back but still a work in progress and Mayo haven't anything better than the old reliables and today was a bridge too far for them. Results from Tyrone v Cork and Kerry v Donegal could leave very little to play for in the last round of games. We need to beat Meath and hope that Kerry beat Donegal to have any hope of progressing. Be nice if there was something to play for going into the Donegal game but time will tell.

Excellent result today from Kerry

But Mayo have been greatly impacted by injuries and that will eventually be exposed by better teams

Mayo still in this yet but it won't be easy

Definitely no AI in the current panel the way it is but they have a say in giving a semifinal a good go.

Struggled against London, squeaked past Sligo, and that was as good as we got. Rightly beaten by Roscommon and Mayo, and with our defence, we'd have been ripped apart by that Kerry team today.

Who won that game ? - :)

Horans seems to have no tactical nous whatsoever.
Mayo kick-out strategies under Rochford was once viewed as the best in the country and their strong point ,
No-where to be seen now.
Meath have a great chance at HQ.

Mayo have had to go through the qualifiers, on a day with that heat and Kerry being well rested they were never gonna keep the pace that Kerry set.

Hard not to hear Yoda's voice narrating that first line.

We're not much fitter than Mayo but Mayo were tired.

Are you having a laugh? The last time I saw saw Galway take on Kerry was in Croke Park in 2016 and they were beaten before they took the field. What's changed in Galway since then?

Sindar did you just wake up from coma? My take on Mayo is that they were exhausted from the Galway game. Galway and Mayo were unlucky to draw each other in the qualifiers and essentially did each other in. Hopefully Kevin Walsh learned a lesson today that you must never allow Clarke to take a short kick out as he goes into panic mode. Mayo will regroup for the Meath game no doubt.

Every great team/sportsperson always have a moment when they burst onto the scene and make a statement they're ready to compete at the top. I thought offensively and defensively Kerry were scary today. There kicking, catching, power and pace was a joy to watch and it's hard to see how they wouldn't improve upon this in Croke Park. I'm not sure if they can beat Dublin this year but this looks like almost the perfect team already despite it's average age.

Check out Galway v Kerry in 2018, also in Croke Park. Galway won and won well.
