Cavan Vs Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

one of our darkest days..
I say donegal and tyrone lick their lips seeing them blue jerseys. It just proves my point mickey is a great organiser, a players manager, they will all die for him. In terms of tactical nous he is nowhere near Malachy o Rourke or Mickey Harte. If we want to take things to the next level go all out and get malachy or else the alternative , settle for mediocrity. (as usual)

Great win for Tyrone and they are now back in business. Poor Cavan have just fallen off a cliff in the last few weeks. They had a great championship up until the Ulster final and hopefully can take heart from that. I think they have the makings of a good side and wish them the best of luck in tge future.

Nobody does the qualifiers like Tyrone, you just have to admire that. I had thought this game would be close but it was never in doubt. Its going to be an interesting game in the Hyde against Roscommon next week. Tyrone will be massive favourites but Roscommon have been excellent so far this year.

What is going on with Tyrone and Meath posters insulting each other? Why cant people just comment on the football and stop being childish?

Replying To Wally:  "I really don't like Meath on personal level. I have had come across some serious unsavoury incidents with their fans over the years.

They are jealous, spiteful, nasty and vindictive.

But what really annoys me about them is that they somehow think they are still relevant. They talk like it is still the mid nineties.

I honestly don't mind taking a certain amount of flak from other successful counties like Dublin, Mayo or Donegal but Meath just make me laugh.

Also they play a poor quality brand of football, they are neither aggressive or imaginative or exciting or even controversial. They have no star players. I honestly cannot name anyone on their panel, which is crazy coming from a big football fan like me.

And they have not achieved anything of merit in years and yet they still talk like they are better than everyone else."
Agree Wally, crazy is the word.

Tyrone look a good bet to make semi final or go even further think they are motoring well and are primed to be the main threat to Dublin this year

I guess if ye can't beat them at the gaa then last resort is to call them Brits . Yeah Brits we are and still we are giving you free staters lessons in Gaelic football . Longford destroyed, Kildare annihilated and Cavan spanked from one end of field to the other. You think you republicans could play your own sport better.. each day is same , knock ten bells out of the southern counties , home in time for the parade . Life is great

Time for this thread to be closed. Sometimes the Hoganstand is just depressing. Every thread is someone just abusing someone from another county.

The main thing people need to remember is that just cos someone comments a lot on here does not mean they're in anyway representative of what the majority of the people from that county think.

Well done Tyrone, I've been saying all year, even after the Donegal game you are the team I'm most weary off, nothing has changed my mind yet!

Commiserations Cavan, you are the luck of the draw away from being in the S8s, played much tougher opponents this year then many of us who have gotten that far, so can be proud of what you contributed to the championship. Hope you have a right go at getting back to Div 1 and championship next year, I was secretly hoping for an away day in Breffni.

Feel for Cavan today. I do think we need a new championship structure to cater for all counties, not just who ever reaches the Super 8.

As for the strange Meath Tyrone slagging here... we're not even in the same group. I for one hope Meath reach the Super 8s.

I regard myself as being privileged to have been at the 2008 All Ireland final. In the minor game i marvelled at the sheer class of Kyle Coney and in the Senior game Brian Dooher kicked a point from out on the sideline on the run that i regard as one of the best scores i have ever seen.

Tyrone have produced footballers of the highest quality on a regular basis and as a Gaa fan I appreciate them all.

However despite that, I and many others would identify Tyrone as having dragged football into the gutter from the early 2000's.
Despite having some wonderful footballers, they implementated a style of football which was so anti enjoyment and the worst example of a 'win at all cost' mentality that i have ever seen across any sport.

So before any Tyrone supporter comes on here spouting about any other county, they should take a long look in the mirror and reflect on the damage their own county have inflicted on the sport I and many others love.

As for todays game I thought that it was the one draw that Cavan did not want after their Ulster Final defeat and it proved to be the case. Tyrone were just too good for them all over the field.

Tyrone should qualify from their Super 8 group and reach a semi final and progression after that depends on the draw.

Feel sorry for Cavan, didn't see it, a humiliating defeat, Tyrone are looking very dangerous, I'd imagine even the Dubs are getting a bit worried, super 8's are looking good, hope there's some good games in it this year.
