Clubs And Sponsorship

(Oldest Posts First)

Happened to come across a copy of the Irish News today and found part of an article by ex Tyrone player, Enda McGinley, interesting and very surprising. The article itself was about GAA funding, a topic that has got a lot of airing on the HS site, and really did not add anything new.
However, part of the article dealt with a press release by the Cuala club earlier this year announcing a new three year sponsorship deal with multi million dollar firm Amgen. The sponsorship included educational bursaries, prestigious paid internships and funding for all the club's adult football and camogie teams (five men's teams, three ladies and three camogie). The hurlers, he says, are sponsored by Huawei, whilst other main sponsors of teams and groups within the include Ulster Bank, Energia, Microsoft and Sherry Fitzgerald.
I had to read it a couple of times for it to really sink in as it is a world away from the small club scene that I know. The management of the Cuala club deserve tremendous praise for their ability to source and develop such sponsorship.
Do posters know of other clubs around the country who have managed to develop sponsorship at this level - particularly in offering bursaries and interns?
