Mayo V Armagh

Mayo are making second rate Ulster sides look good . I don't think they will get too far this year, injury list and a real lack of momentum stumbling over second tier sides. When they meet a top team they will be out

Deegan's performance shows why home advantage is crucial in these games. I'd have to agree with you I'm not sure if it was the roar of the crowd or what was happening but he seemed to want to award frees when Mayo players weren't even claiming them but didn't seem quite as keen at the other end. Canavan remarked on it at half time but I thought it got worse in the second half.

I thought Deegan was fine today. He gave soft frees both ways and for once equally penalized the teams for carrying the ball into the tackle & over carrying it. I also thought he was short on added time. We won so I'm happy but hard luck to Armagh team for the future.

Not sure if Mayo are about to get wiped by the big teams down the line and are simply hanging on till then for dear life, or they are just stuttering along and will hit another level in late summer.

Valiant effort from Armagh. I think if they had really believed earlier they could have won this game. Got absolutely nothing from Deegan who should reflect on his performance there. Mayo weren't going to be allowed to lose that game.

25% chance even.......forgot about Tyrone!!

Are you talking about Mayo or Tyrone I'm confused?

Probably the best game of the championship so far. Mayo got through despite all their injuries. Hope Lee Keegan is ok. But it's really a shame that Armagh are out, would like to have seen them in the Super 8s.

Pity the draw wasn't tonight instead of waiting for the draw on Monday morning ! Clare Laois Tyrone Mayo v Cork Meath Galway Cavan

Great game. Armagh have really improved the last few years. Bad decision at the end cost them.

I also thought the Armagh goal was a square ball, didn't see footage to confirm for me.

Maurice Deegan. Armagh didn't get anything. In a way ruined what was a very good game.

Referee was shocking tonight in Castlebar,
So many Mayo fans apologised for his performance, shouldn't have to

Armagh had 2 goal opportunities and didn't take them
But Christ how can this referee get an inter county match !!
He was very poor

Bad luck to Armagh, really enjoyed watching them this year. They play like Dublin in many, many ways, perhaps just without that razor sharpe pace, movement, speed and in game intelligence.

Felt the old McGeaney strategy of shoot on site when the wind is with you really let them down, conversion rate in the second half really let them down.

Also thought for the keeper loosing the plot in the second quarter was a very different game, thought he should have done better on the goal too.

I couldn't for the life of me understand why didn't push up on Clarke's kick outs, he's notoriously shaky when squeezed and not great long.

Couldn't understand why they kept brining the ball into contact in the Mayo defensive snare beyond the 45, they are doing it years and the path of by passing is well known and well trodden.

Couple of individual errors, the fouling of McLoughlin and the ref brining the free up was very unlucky and in fact questionable.

Why did they not try and point the final free, instead play it back and take it on anyway, ref never would have blown up even if they tried to work it.

Not having a pop just crituping, as I said I've really enjoyed Armagh this year, think the game was there for them today with better decisions and tactics from management to be honest.

Big year of development for them and a good blend of older and younger players, could do with a couple of half forwards and half backs in my opinion.

Mayo roll on, but really have been put to the sword today I think with better decisions and game/management.

When a number of different counties mention the performance of a referee then there has to be something in it. With all the work teams put into the Championship the referees can derail a season unfairly, probably one of the most one sided performances I've seen it a while you'd have to ask why!

McDonagh and Darren coen look real finds for mayo but injuries will catch up with them eventually.

They need to make the super 8s to deem this season a good one,

Deegan was awful but we have to look at ourselves for why we were beat.

Indisipline from Shields getting that free moved in.
2 missed goal chances in the 2nd half.

And we have a truly awful goalkeeper. Small with no presence, doesnt make saves. Every game costs scores with his kicking. We dont even have a sub keeper atm.

Well done to Mayo, with all their injuries thats a great effort. Simple truth is they are just a better side than us.

Good luck to Mayo going forward. Hope you get a few men back and give it a good rattle.

I'm not a fan of deegan but if you watch it back Armaghs constant pulling and dragging went unpunished he should have have at least gave a few yellows

Really fantastic game and Armagh were very unlucky. I actually thought Armagh were the better team for much of the match but just had a bad 15 minutes after half time. Jamie Clarke and Stefan Campbell were excellent. Armagh a definitely a team on the rise, they have great forwards and if they can improve their tackling they will be a force.

Hard to know what to make of Mayo. Can they struggle on to the Super 8s and suddenly come back to life or are they going to end up getting badly beaten at some stage? You really can fault their effort or their heart. I just cant see them getting anywhere near the Dubs.
