Round 3 Qualifiers

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Mayo v Armagh
Kildare v Tyrone
Laois v Offally
Westmeath v Clare

So we have the 4 strongest against each other
with 2 from Laois,Offally,Westmeath and Clare going through to face the provincial losers.
You would have to Fancy Mayo and Tyrone to Advance although both games will be close.
I would fancy Laois and Clare from the other games but again I expect both to be close.
It leaves the prospect of a "weaker county" making it through to the Super-8s

Mayo v Armagh. I going for Armagh to win this one the more games this young side play together the better they are getting.

Kildare v Tyrone. Very tricky for Tyrone but backdoor experience may just get them through. Tyrone always seem to improve each year the more games they play in quick succession.

Laois v Offaly. Good win for Laois against an improving Derry and on that basis I go for a Laois win.

Westmeath v Clare. I am will go for a narrow home win

I'm delighted to avoid Mayo and Armagh. I think we should come through the Kildare test. They have regressed and we usually win our qualifiers on the road.

Nothing would surprise me in the other two games. Big opportunity for a number of counties.

Mayo v Armagh has the potential to be a good game I think. Mayo should come through the test but Armagh have some lively forwards that could cause Mayo some issues. Still think Mayo by 5/6 in the end.

Tyrone should get out of Newbridge with the win but again it has the makings of another very good game.

Laois should have too much in Portlaoise for Offaly imo.

Westmeath and Clare could be another very good game imo. If it were in Ennis I think Clare would be favourites but the game in Mullingar evens the scale somewhat. I'll go for a close away win.

At least the conspiracy theorists have nothing to talk about after this draw. In previous years there were some suspicions that the draw was fixed to ensure the strongest teams got through. This time there will be two strong teams going out next weekend and two supposedly weaker teams will be just one step away from the super 8s.

A double bill of Mayo v Armagh and Kildare v Tyrone would surely attract a crowd of 60,000 to Croke Park .......just kidding!

I would have taken Armagh over Kildare to be honest.

Don't rate Armagh, decent forwards but I feel you can rake up a massive score against them. Kildare away is extremely tough, especially in Newbridge. Tyrone also have injuries to key men.

Il go for Tyrone, Mayo, Westmeath, Laois

3 home wins and 1 away win for me please.

I'm sure you can figure out who I'm tipping to win on the road!

All the best Offaly,
but of the remaining counties, Offaly have the poorest support

4 matches that are hard to call.

Westmeath love a munster team. Tipp and Limerick and now Clare. I've a feeling if they win they'll draw cork next!

Laois and Offaly will be both delighted and I'm sure the winner will be hoping to get Meath.

A big Armagh crowd will travel to castlebar so that will be a tasty affair. Likewise Tyrone in Newbridge. Can't wait for next week.

I will be nervous going to Newbridge but still relieved to avoid Mayo. They haven't achieved much this century to be honest. If we fear Kildare then we have no business being in the super 8s.

This is a dangerous game for Mayo. If they do lose, I think it's the end of the road for a lot of the current crop of players; Higgins, Clarke, Moran. . .
It would also be a huge step forward for this Armagh team after dispatching of Monaghan so convincingly.
A huge game!

I think Tyrone will beat Kildare with a bit to spare.

Likewise, I think Laois are a level above anyone Offaly have beaten so far.

Westmeath v Clare is a hard one to call - I'll go with Clare to get the away win

Mayo v Armagh 7 pm in Castlebar.

I wonder will the Mayo County board release a statement on how unfair it is for the Armagh fans to travel at that time of night?

Can Armagh play Cavan again in round 4?

Can Laois/Offaly play Meath?

Hard luck yesterday. Hope ye get a good round 4 draw and make the 8s.

Why do you have laois a level above us out of interest? If it's the stability that they've had over the last few years then fair enough.

We need to lock maughan down now for the foreseeable before he is poached on us and give us the same stability.
