You're right that young O Shea is not the first player to be targeted by the opposition. I would imagine that all inter county managers with teams playing this weekend will sit down and try to figure out how take the oppositions best players " out of the game". The really good players will thrive on it and it sorts out the men from the boys. Of course Dublin players were targeted in the past but they have so many good players you can't target them all. If you expect O Shea to be allowed romp unhindered to kick lovely scores when he meets the likes of Tyrone, Dublin, Donegal or Galway then you are extremely naive. Against the better teams there is no place to hide.

Wasn't complaining or being naive, I was simply pointing out why he struggled in the league final. And reading back it may seem like I was having a pop at mayo, that wasn't my intention. It's part of the game unfortunately. We did the same to Michael Murphy in 2014 and got away with it, I could point to dozens of other examples. It's a failure of officiating across the board that it is allowed. GeniusGerry (Kerry) - Posts: 2105 - 08/06/2019 11:55:21 2191658 Link 3 |
