Posters Crossing The Line

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Have noticed an emerging unsavoury tone by some posters of late. Indeed, what is surprising is the posts that are being generated by users that would have appeared level headed before. There is no place for personal slights on players or indirectly on their families. Important to remember that these are amateurs giving a big chunk of their time to their counties & for our entertainment. Keep the slagging general. We never know the impact of flippant commentary.

Certain people on here can't hold their temper greysoil and can't handle people having different opinions to their own.

I respect everyone's opinion, I don't always agree with them and il always come up with arguments to back up my own opinion .

Live and let live I always say, but it was very wrong of that poster in question to go after a 19 year old amateur footballer.

Shocking to be fair, I hope the poster sees the error of their ways.

I'll say prayer for them then grab my pitch fork. :D

Shocking is right and very badly written as well to be fair.

I can't believe what seemed like a tongue in cheek post has got this much "controversy"

The post you refer to was not a personal slight on a player.

The post was so obviously satirical. The David Clifford of the post bears next to no resemblance to the real David Clifford. The David Clifford of the post is a caricature and not even one of the real David Clifford.

There was nothing specifically targeted at Clifford in that post at all. The character could have been named after any Kerry player and still have worked exactly the same.

The target of the satire was categorically not David Clifford, the target of the satire was the Kerry posters who claim to be unable to compete with Dublin financially. The post was highlighting that Kerry players are hardly badly off themselves.

I mean my god. I'm far from being an anti pc zealot and believe in respect for all, but we have to be able to allow for good natured humour also. There was just nothing unsavory about that post whatsoever.

100% spot on, whomever deemed that as a "personal slight" on an individual or their family really needs to have a long hard look at themselves and get a dose of cop on...in my opinion.

Should there not be a report button for posters to report posts they find break forum rules etc then like any other forum. This sorts this kind of thing out

I rest easy knowing that the rational, open, transparent and well-documented moderation in effect on the forums here will filter out any such anomalous posting and will always allow through reasoned, rational comments with no danger of them disappearing without trace into some inaccessible digital scrapyard.

Look this isn't a comfortable thing to call out & I am sure it is not comfortable having it called out. If posts are intended as generic & not personal & directed at supporters, no need to use individual player names.

That was my take on it ye. The problem was that a Galway poster then proceeded to drag the light hearted tone of the thread down.

Someone better get on to Rory O'Connor, Conor Moore, Aidan Tierney and Mario Rosenstock and tell them they'd want to stop their shenanigans by impersonating players and fans in a satirical manner because some people clearly can't tell the difference between comedy and abuse.

This thread has crossed a line.

When I read the opening post I thought someone was after saying something really bad!

Then it turns out it was a clearly lighthearted post that in no way crossed any line or slagged off any player at all. You'd have to wonder about anyone getting offended by that post. Something clearly not right with them if they can't understand a lighthearted satirical post.
