But you are writing Sligo off and saying you will beat them by 7 points based upon what??? let me guess.......their league performances/results?? I am open to correction but i do not believe Sligo have won a game all year and the closest they came to winning a game all year was against Offaly in the league (losing out by a point). Sligo were already dead, buried and relegated to Div 4 whereas Offaly had to win to stay up. Most bookies have you at -4 which is probably about right but here don't let yourself get too ahead of yourselves. Sligo are at a very similar level to yourselves really and it will be alot closer than the comprehensive 7 point win you are predicting in my view."
Madness sure they bet london in the qualifiers in tullamore by 9 points. It was a draw 5 minutes from ht.

Laois written off by all & sundry including the bookies

Yesterday was a bad day, but I think we'll learn from it.

It will stand to a lot of the young lads on that team, plus I think it will prompt a bit of a mentality change on the sideline and hopefully we'll have a couple of key players back from injury.

It will be close, but I reckon Laois will have enough nous to overcome the Derry defensive set-up (I haven't seen Derry in a few years, so my view of how they play is completely clouded by Brolly's columns!)

London were comprehensively beaten by us. The same London that gave galway their fill of it.

Replying To Mayonman:  "mayo will struggle. worst draw possible for them. i know monaghan are rated higher than down but they are familiar with monaghan and their curve is going the wrong way. To coin the pun Down are on the Up:-)

Also Paddy Tally will know Mayo inside out from his time in Galway."
I'm inclined to agree with you Mayoman. This draw is a bit reminiscent of last year and Kildare with Cian O'Neill having such good knowledge of the Mayo players. Considering Down don't meet Mayo too often it's an advantage that they're being managed by someone with a fair degree of knowledge of the sort of game plan Mayo don't enjoy. Our camp wouldn't know very much about Down at all. This could be very sticky...

A very intriguing qualifier draw."
Jack, as much as i am flattered that you have given us the nod, i fear an upset is beyond us this yr. I say this giving great credit to the players that put in the effort, parked their egos for the betterment of the team and went out all year and played for the blue and gold.

This is not the team that played meath last yr (congrats on ur leinster final appearance btw). Unfortunately we are missing 6 players from last yr. These are all young men and all first teamers, not panel members. Obviously a hit like that to any team is a blow, never mind to team like ours that have a limited pick.

Theres great work being done at underage over the last few yrs, and this situation, this yr, is a real pity. Without discrediting the current players, i certainly would back us for an upset, if these players were available. But they're not, and i will go and give my support to the lads that do wear the jersey, as they certainly deserve our support.

Ps. What a difference 12 months make. Best of luck in leinster final.

Was it not a couple of points in injury time that saved Offaly in that match against Sligo? Sligo will be well motivated to set the record straight there. They should have beaten Offaly that day.

I expect Clare to beat us narrowly by 3 or 4 but if our forwards can be more clinical and if we are still in the game with 10 minutes to go we could be on for an upset

We are no more defensive than any other team in the country. In fact i'd say we're one of the more offensively minded teams this year. I think it will be a tight game and one i'd be nervous enough about to be honest. Will many Laois folk travel up?

Brolly doing Derry's image no favours then!

Couldn't help notice how Dublin were the same as every other team on Sunday and dropped 13/14 men behind the ball when needed...but don't get annihilated in the media for it.

I doubt there'll be much of a Laois crowd outside of the regular few die hards and friends/family, the 8 hour round trip could put off anyone on the fence about going. We are regularly out-supported at home games unfortunately.

Should be a close game. We needed ET to beat Wexford last year and Derry just blew them out of the water, and given home advantage you are justifiably favourites

Offaly needed a late point to win that game in Collooney. Sligo are now coming to Tullamore on Sunday week, Offaly have to go and win on the day.

It wasn't all plain sailing for Offaly that day. They had their off spells in the game.

Agreed that they weren't as sharp as they could be at times. Got a bit sloppy here and there but it was never in doubt. I'm pleased that a small bit of sloppiness came out, it gives us something to work on for the rest of the year- we will need to be more clinical in future games and avoid turnovers which will absolutely cost us.

The commentary on mid103 was excellent for our game and it filled me with hope when they were highlighting the players to come into the panel to compliment what we have. Huge difference in mood since 12 months ago.

Looking forward to welcoming our friends from sligo now. It's a pity we are the Sunday fixture as I enjoy the atmosphere of the Saturday games and mixing with the other county's spectators.

Spot on. Dublin will drop everyone back if needed at any given point in the game in order to stifle an attack. Usually only happens though when the opposition have committed everyone forward and our attackers just track their men back. More often than not we will leave 2 if not 3 lads up front. I think what sets us apart is that when we do have almost everyone back is that we are excellent in the tackle and arguably break forward with more pace and threat than any other team. I think that probably steers the focus way from being defensive at times. Also we tend to dominate possession in most games and as such are usually on the attack or building patiently in the middle third as opposed to defending.

Westmeath v Limerick: Westmeath by 5.
Longford v Tyrone - Longford in Pearse Park is no picnic. You'd have to imagine Tyrone will win it though.
Antrim v Kildare - Kildare by 6
Leitrim v Clare- Clare but Leitrim can win this one and Im nearly 50/50 tbh
Down v Mayo- Very sticky draw for Mayo... they'll take a 1/2 point win here and run with it.
Derry v Laois - Tight fixture but I think Laois will shade it.
Offaly v Sligo - Offaly arent a bad side. Id give them the win by 4/5 points.
Monaghan v Armagh - Another very sticky draw. Armagh need a big performance and its now or never for McGeeney so I think they'll sneak it by 1 point.
