He actually left the main page a few years back cause he couldn't take it and he's the biggest wum on here ha, he's funny tbf , he can't stand Dublin's success and has been on a non stop crusade to slag us us off at every opportunity. Now he's a farmer from the dingle area or west Kerry so you can be sure if you ever met him down there he'd be the nicest cutest Kerryman you'd ever meet. You know what their like out that way.

Replying To lilywhite1:  "My sentiments as well jj1. With our two best forwards from last year missing I fear for us. Would love to be proved wrong but have to be realistic.
Still I'll be there. Hopefully the two games will bring more than the expected 30,000."
Based on last nights cameo there's a case for saying JD would still be one of our better forwards.

In 2017, a Kildare team on an upward trajectory and enjoying a much better run of form managed to keep the gap under 10 points. Can't see us doing anything close to that on Sunday regardless of how many players Dublin are missing.

By the sounds of it the second half against Longford was the best half of football we've played all year, so with a bit of luck we'll at least go out and have a go instead of just sitting back and looking to keep the score down.

Hopefully a decent run in the qualifiers is on the cards again.

It's just very surprising. How can this be that a low attendance is expected when Croke Park is in Dublin and there has been provincial investment in this team to bring about these glory years?

I'd say the Dublin fans are just saving themselves for a few days out in the qualifiers.

It's a good point. Many moons ego this double header would have sold out croke park. If they'd invested in the likes of meath, Kildare and laois instead of dublin it could still do.

You would wonder how strategic a response it is from the GAA in conjunction with Rte, to purposely not televise these games. i think the re could be facet of the GAA and RTE trying to boost the revenues of provincial games by not showing them. The attendances bar Roscommon and Mayo thus far have been really poor for every county, some abysmally so. so whether that strategy is working or not will need to be reflected on.

The GAA lost a huge amount of revenue last year in gate receipts, why make it easier for people not to attend games, especially the ones where you could get your biggest revenue of the year so far. makes perfect sense for me. Gate receipts are worth more to the GAA collectively then broadcasting deal.

Win/win anyway im perfectly happy not letting the world know what we are up

Its all very logical really.

Leinster Council Chairman,Jim Bolger states in the Examiner today that only 16,000 tickets have so far been sold for Sunday's Croke Park games.
He said that he wasn't worried by falling attendances, denying that Dublin's dominance was a factor. He didn't mention any financial imbalance but did concede that the condensing of the season
might be a factor. So they might have to look at that issue! He said that there was no reason to take the semi finals out of Croke Park.

Urban cousin, why do you comment like this? It is fair comment to speak about the GAA funding and how these funds are allocated.

Dublin are supposed to be box office in Croke Park. Something seems to be going wrong somewhere. Is it good for the game that provincial funding is supplied to one county board? Is it distorting competition and even turning Dubs away from the game when Jones' Road is only a short skip and a jump away.

The Leinster semi-final double header should be seeing a 60000 crowd easily.

Rural county boards cannot complain either though. Donegal sought fairness in Croke Park not being designated as a home venue in the Super 8. Rural county boards voted for the crumbs from the urban table.

I'd have no doubt that if the game was broadcast it would gain a sizable viewers. It's an RTÉ scheduling decision at the end of the day.

Unfortunately the death bell of the provisional championships started with the introduction of the back door.

Once upon a time this game was do or die.

That's not true. The death Bell for munster and leinster started with kerry and Dublin dominating. That's the simple reality. It's a real shame because we had 1 great competition and 1 decent one.

I see in another article they are blaming Kildares dip in form for the drop. I think 58k attended the Kildare v dublin semi final in 2011. Without meath v laois this match would probably have 20k.

So yeah it's all your fault Kildare. If you had of been getting the kind of money Dublin get to invest in your underage you'd be far better. It would also free up more money to go towards a more professional senior set up and as you'd be better your sponsorship deals would be higher. Instead you are left to rot. Shame because you've a population approaching a quarter of a million and big competition from rugby and soccer. Not as bad as the GAA ignoring antrim though!

I see cian O'Neil thinks you could upset Dublin. Is he delusional or does he know something we don't?

16,000 tickets sold for a double header with Dublin in Croke Park is beyond belief really. Football is dead in the water for many reasons. One team dominating has bored people[Crowds telling us this]. Even Dublin supporters[genuine fans] would like a more competive championship. They are likewise bored hence not bothered attending another massacre this coming Sunday. It's a sad time for football tbh as i can't see it becoming competitive anytime soon.

Watch and see if there is a Ewen article on the attendance of Sun games and the points being made in this thread on Mon. It would be uncanny coincidence.

Some might unkindly say Jack_Goff that the poor lad has been delusional for some time now.

Really poor attendances at 1980, 1981, 1982 Kerry All Ireland semi finals.
