Cavan Vs Armagh

Replying To Helm82:  "The days where fair hard hitting tackles are allowed have gone, too many players going to the ground too easily. If we want those days back then there needs to be a deterrent put in place to prevent it. I think the GAA's inability to deal with the initial issue has led to teams having to use the dark arts to gain an advantage."
I thought Cavan players were too honest for their own good based on how it was refereed. If McKiernan had of made more of the kick from Grimley he would have got a red. Plenty of late hits that and leaving something on a man after what can be loosely described as tackles that were far from fair. Shields was at it a few times and eventually he got a reaction. If he hadn't of gone to ground Brady might have stayed on. Referee was reacting to how badly he thinks a player is injured in both cases which leads to players going to ground. If the rules were applied were a closed fit and late hits after the whistle or when the ball is away were dealt with it would mean players and managers change what they are doing.

If it moves hit it. If it doesn't move, hit it until it does.
This is championship. Chucky Armagh!

Replying To Hardtimes:  "I though at the time it was dangerous and deserved red. The more I see it the worse it looks. He has full view of the player in a prone position but draws on him anyway. Could have done some serious damage there. Whatever about arguing intent and giving the player the benefit of the doubt it's still red.
At the time of the Cavan red I thought it was extremely stupid and deserved red. Looking back at the replay it's not as bad as it first looked but still red. Certainly not a flying elbow as some are trying to imply. It's a flailing arm and half catches him with the forehand and palm as he's in a low body position. Player made the most of it in front of referee so there was no real argument.
Certainly seemed to be an Armagh tactic to ruffle Cavan players. Their red card was not the first sly knee dropped on a prone Cavan player on the ground either but definitely the most blatant. Certainly deserves a suspension."
To be honest I actually thought it was much worse than the Armagh red card. The potential to hurt the player was significantly higher. The dropped knee was more stupid than dangerous. The famous ricey incident with the knees involved all his weight as ricey had his feet off the ground. (But when ricey did anything he gave it 100%) Grimley could easily have put that lad out of football for months the way he drew on him.

Whats the story with Armagh's James Morgan? He comes out behind his man everytime, tackles well at first but then proceeds to absolutely bulldoze and get up on top of the poor forward with the ball giving away a free. Very funny to watch. Hes a good player if he could learn how to tackle properly. Definitely wouldn't like to be marked by him anyway!
I could see why McGeeney took him off yesterday and put him back on in extra time. He was going to walk otherwise.

Was very impressed with my neighbours Cavan. Didn't realise they were as good as I hadn't seen much of them lately. Was impressed with Killian Clarke, Moynagh, Rehill and McVeety. Jarlath Og Burns looks to be some propect for Armagh. What a player. Rian O'Neill didn't get the same space he got against Down. Good game I enjoyed it. Thought the ref handled it decent enough maybe apart from the black card for Cavans fullback. Wasn't an easy game to ref watching as a neutral. I don't think he was as biased as some Cavan people are saying. Will BBC show deferred coverage of the replay does anyone know?

Yeah BBC show deferred coverage 7pm on Sunday evening, they just announced it.

Armagh lack leaders. They had Down beaten on 3 occasions and similar v Cavan, but simply didnt have the balls, leadership or game intelligence to win. Good footballers but no leaders. On a road to no-where, same as the last 5 years.

How do we see the replay going? Hard to call but I'd be expecting cavan to get over the line. I thought the last game was a fascinating tactical battle as well as the physicality. I think on their day Armagh or Cavan could give the winners of the other semi final a good rattle.

If Armagh can tweak a few things especially the kick outs then it's Armagh's game . Cavan are a poor enough team and I don't think they will get it it 3rd time lucky.

Good luck to both teams, let's hope it is an even better game than last Sunday! It's going to be a tough future for both after this match, Donegal /Tyrone seems to be at a higher level and frequency of the qualifier matches will be a tricky route too!

Any word on Jarly Og Burns starting? Hear he was bad with a concussion when he came off last week, but Armagh are saying he didn't have one. Despite him playing on the opposite team, I'd love to see him on the field on Sunday, he's some player and would like to see more of him - but not to the detriment of his health. If he did have a concussion then Armagh need to tread carefully there, he needs more than a week...

Understand why some would say we're poor enough. I know we only beat Monaghan by 4 points but hope it was just an off day on our part.

It'll be another battle. Jarly will play. Armagh will hit hard.
Who'll win? Haven't a clue. Armagh are capable of anything.
Ref is a concern for me. That lad is rulya. There'll be a lock of reds.

That's the worry. Would be a disaster for either team going into an Ulster final.

Game will be dirty and cynical again from Armagh... they have to slow Cavan's kick outs, drop back, foul off the ball etc. Without that stuff they loose. All the need is this ref to be like last week's ref and let it go.
Burns will play regardless of health...they appealed Donaghys red for gods sake...

Good to see Brendan Donaghy got his appeal turned down.

And Cavan will continue to throw themselves to the ground.... Get off your high horse. Cavan are at it just as much as Armagh.

Well done Cavan on a superb performance today. Sure, we'll go in as big underdogs against Donegal, but we've improved a lot this year.
