Roscommon V Leitrim

(Oldest Posts First)

Interesting one here this coming Sunday.

Will Roscommon keep it to script or will Terry Hyland's Leitrim upset the odds at the Hyde?

Let's discuss...

Roscommons forward power should be too much for Leitrim.
The last few years this game has been billed up as a local derby but Leitrim failed to make a match of it for a long time now. Last year they collapsed and then a while later came out and kicked 26 points against Louth (no bad team) in the qualifiers. Which Leitrim will turn up?
This year might be different. There is a never say die spirit in this Leitrim bunch. They will aim to be much closer to Roscommon than the last few years. But we are limited. Out shooting in Croke Park let us down. We need to be much more clinical. The pace of Div 4 is different to Div 1. Our defence is suspect when ran at.
We have to hope Roscommon have an off day, we keep within 3 points of them with 10 minutes to go and then try to launch an ambush. I think Roscommon will find their scores easier and after playing in Div 1 they have much more experience than Leitrim. Our lads are that bit younger than Roscommons seasoned campaigners. Theres a worry about team selection. Some players who have proved themselves as match winners suddenly weren't given a game in Croke Park. That deeply bothers me.
I really hope we make a game of it which hasn't happened since 2010. Its 19 years since we shocked them in probably one of our greatest victories in the Connacht Championship.
I would have to say Roscommon by about 6 points if I were to put my house on it.

Leitrim have certainly improved and definitely impressed in the League but unfortunately I don't see them beating Rosscommon in this one but I see them getting far in the back door depending on who they draw ofcource. Rosscommon 5-8

How the Div 4 teams have fared so far in the championship.

London lost 4 points and conceded just 0-16 to Galway
Waterford lost by 1 point to Clare and conceded a mere 0-9
Wicklow lost by 2 points to Kildare and conceded just 0-15
and last but not least Limerick beat Tipp by 7 points and concede just 1-10

Safe to to say looking at those 4 results that Roscommon should not be taking Leitrim for granted tomorrow.

Well done to the Rossies.

I was hoping for more from Leitrim, it looks like the goals killed it as a contest very early.
