Would Paul Flynn have won what he did had he played more games outside crokepark? I doubt it very much,"
Would the Kerry greats have won as much as they did if they didn't reside in a hurling province where an AI could be obtained having won just 3 games? You see it's all hypothetical but what we do know is that Flynner was a fantastic footballer, acknowledged by his peers in the form of 4 all-stars in a row, scoring 3-28 in 22 games from 2011-14. Not bad for a 800m athlete!!

Athletics was a big part of the GAA back in the early days of the association and Dublin are putting the athletic back in the GAA."
We sure are, time to catch up lad,!

Leaving aside that however Flynn got 4 consecutive all stars to Geaneys none. Rightfully so. I suspect you're alone in your thinking on this one. As the old saying goes....people will see you walk on water & say its cos you can't swim. This begrudgery & mean spiritness is rife amongst a sizable portion of the Kerry supporters on this forum."
As I said in my post Mikey has been blighted by injury so 6 points isn't bad at all.

I feel no begrudgery towards Flynn at all like I said he was an amazing athlete on a team of athletes.

Fantastic scoring no doubt helped by playing all his games at home.

As for us coming from a hurling province well we beat the best that every other province put in front of as well except the stars from the county Down.

Pity our paths didn't cross in the 70/80s though as we'd have given them a run for their money.

I remember watching him in the 2014 semifinal and thinking wow. One of his points that day was sublime. I really thought ye would go on to win that game as the point taking was unreal. Donegal were fantastic though. Should have beaten that Kerry team.

Ah our 37th allireland, I remember it well, my favorite one of all if the truth be told.

You can't beat winning an allireland against the head.

I wrote what I wrote and I stand by my assessment its my opinion is all and I stand by it 100%

Again best of luck to paul Flynn in his retirement, plenty of space now for Mr Connolly to make his come back.

For some reason I keep visualizing his goal against Kildare in the Leinster semi final in 2011.

What a game that was, was worthy and had all the excitement of at least a Leinster final. It's actually hard to believe it was a Leinster Semi, thinking back.

I'd wager that's the closest we have come to being beaten in Leinster since.

Brilliant player really suited to the role of the modern day half forward superb work rate but above all his point taking from out wide on the right was probably the best and most consistent I've seen versatile player who could play in a number of positions
Nice guy by all accounts also enjoy the retirement

In fairness I think it's 3 each v Tyrone with us winning 2 finals to your 1 in championship. Just saying...... :)

That's a fantastic record against the kings of Gaelic football seanie boy ;-)

I'd say it must be the second bests record in the country after Down.

An underrated part of Flynn's game was his high fielding I always thought. Him and Cluxton seemed to have a great understanding for a few years where they would dominate kick outs, and Flynn was pivotal to Cluxton's role in the team.

Mighty player.

A true great of the modern game. Shame the injuries took their toal. Comes across as a top man as well. Enjoy the retirement Paul and congrats on a brilliant playing career.

You've undersold Paul Flynn's scoring there by a bit. He has at least 6 Championship goals by my reckoning and I'd reckon he has at least 50 points.

Don't know about Michael Geaney's record. The statisticians are still working on it probably.....
