"Excellent athlete" Poor attempt to wind up Dublin supporters. Who have Kerry got wing forward Mikey Geaney? Poor mans Paul Flynn

What a player. Played in one of the greatest half forward lines of the era. A beast on the pitch, a great point taker and, most importantly, a great fella. Met him in PP just before he got his first all-star and told him that he was bound to get one. Typical of him he shrugged it off with an "ah I doubt it". Difficult to replace that type of player but I see shades of Paul in Brian Howard so who knows. All the best Flynner.

From a Dublin perspective, for four seasons from about 2011 through to 2014, he was immense. His level of consistency and work rate was phenomenal. His point taking from distance was breathtaking at times as well as his range of passing. A great fielder of the ball as well. He still put in some great performances post 2014, most notably the All-Ireland final in 2015, but injuries were beginning to catch up I think.

It's a pity that he has gone at only 32 but he has had a wonderful career and hopefully he has a good few years left in him for Fingallians.

Paul Retires at the top. Has any player made so much from the Game in its history?

I'd say you're the one trying to do the winding kid, I took time out of my busy day to come on here and wish the man well in his retirement and you start on about Mikey Geaney!

Granted Mikey wouldn't be as athletic as Flynn but when it comes to football skills Mikey would be better IMO .

Mikey has been cursed with injuries during his intercounty career but when he's fit there is nobody that can unlock a defense like him in the country.

Joke post of the day. Geaney not fit to lace Flynn's boots.

That's your opinion and you're untitled to that but I disagree with you.

Would Paul Flynn have won what he did had he played more games outside crokepark? I doubt it very much,

Sure thats why he retired at 32, to have one more shot at the Olympics!

That's why we're called the Gaelic athletic association realdub.

Athletics was a big part of the GAA back in the early days of the association and Dublin are putting the athletic back in the GAA.

Hmmm let me see now...a quick Google search reveals Paul Flynn scored 3-33 to Geaneys 6 points in their respective careers. Leaving aside that however Flynn got 4 consecutive all stars to Geaneys none. Rightfully so. I suspect you're alone in your thinking on this one. As the old saying goes....people will see you walk on water & say its cos you can't swim. This begrudgery & mean spiritness is rife amongst a sizable portion of the Kerry supporters on this forum.
