Forum Becoming Boring

Maybe it's GDPR or the Millenium Softies thing, ie we all have to be politically correct, but are HS posts becoming a biteen more boring and repedetive and more cautious??? Less fun???
Grand no personal issues or identifiable persons but surely genuine heart felt commentary or slagging can still pass muster. It's what we say in the local and is just banter.
Why can't one be critical anymore without offending???

Ive basically given up on this now, used to post almost every day, cant be bothered anymore.

Recently tried to set up a basic thread that broke NONE of the "house rules" on what achievement would be bigger, Dublin winning 5 in a row or Mayo breaking their long wait, I tried to post it 3 times as a genuine conversation starter and every time the admin have blocked it.

It was GAA games related, family friendly, no bad language or abusive comments and I certainly didnt attempt to post offensive or defamatory contributions and of course I typed the message myself which rules copyright.

I just wish we could hear from the admins ..

Give us reasons why you wont allow certain posts.

This place has definitely become lifeless and boring and id be pretty sure the numbers on these forums are down over the years.

Was actually thinking of posting this exact topic but declined fearing a backlash from the Dublin fanbase, but you've just proved me wrong,
Odd how it wasn't approved.

I know what you mean wayno, this week threads for the Leinster Ulster and Connacht football championships were started here on the main page so I tried to start a Munster football championship thread and nothing,

maybe the administration don't think the Munster football championship is worth a thread and that's fair enough but I just found it funny is all and no explanation.

There is certainly debate to be had

1 team going for 5 in a row, something that has never been done before in the history not the game at senior level, and another whove been through the heartbreak and got so close so many times, I know the majority of people would probably rather mayo win it i accept that but would winning it once after all the heartbreak be a bigger story than Dublin winning the 5 ??

The again if you turn it, winning it so much probably adds a sense of normality as oppose to mayo not winning it for so long its alien to anyone under 75 really.

I think winning 5 in a row would be a bigger achievement but think the media would love the mayo story more.

Half my comments never go to print, only the lighthearted material gets through, and you're right, this forum is boring the pants off me.
My interest is waning, big time!

The media is Dublin-centric so I reckon the 5 in a row would command more column inches/ air time.

Dublin completing the 5 would be the biggest achievement in football arguably ever. It's not even a debate really.

Mayo winning one would be brilliant for them and would be one of the stories of the decade. I doubt any team and county has ever wanted it more. That said, there is simply no comparison with going five years undefeated in the championship.

Now now the 5 in a row needs the asterisk (achieved with the aid of at least 17 million+ of special GAA funding, completed by playing only 4 games outside of their home ground).
Given those provisos any country wining a single All-Ireland should be a bigger story ;D
I wonder will this post get passed the censors :D

The Kerry team of the 70/80s were treated like royalty, Spillane even admitted they needed nice 'holidays' to maintain their drive despite the fact they only needed to play a few championship matches a year.

Premoderation of all posts is fine if reasons are given for posts not going through but if you dont know why your post isnt allowed then how do you know how to change your behaviour in the future for future posts to be allowed?

Think the forum mirrors the summer ahead. Apart from the ulster folk no one else will really get hot under the collar till the super 8s or for some the all ireland semi final. Of course the need for people to agree with each other all the time is boring alright. Best contributors on here are the hard line county fans.

I can remember hoganstand in the mid naughties and the administrator's back then allowed most posts up, it was great craic and there was some great and entertaining debates, gradually more and more of my posts warnt going up and I got fed up of it and left, only came back to it this year and already I'd say about half my posts havnt gone up which is very frustrating, this must be the most censored site in ireland, fair enough you can't allow free rain but I think they go to far.

I can agree 100%, I joined around 4 or 3 years ago and the craic was class; not much going on for the past year. Think we will have to start more threads on individual topics and individual matches to keep conversation going and more banter going.
