Ohright didn't see that, thought he was on about the players. Ah sure there is always one. Ahlinesman (Laois) - Posts: 3 - 24/03/2019 22:46:33 2175027 Link 0 |
Great win yesterday in a championship atmosphere. Always difficult to get a win in Ulster. Could see the Louth team learning from game to game so hope to see it continue for Westmeath game. Wind seemed a bit erratic with cross winds near the goals and a downfield wind in the middle. Down keeper looked afraid to kick out the ball at times as he had little options. Louth have been up and down the divisions more times than a quare ones knickers. Will it happen again next Saturday? I hope so and if not it won't be lack of effort from the Louth squad that causes it. ged (Louth) - Posts: 296 - 25/03/2019 13:41:32 2175273 Link 2 |
Best of luck to my beloved Wee County today. Louth and Westmeath matches are always close and the winners only win by a couple of points. Today should be no different. Louth were the bookies favs to go down so wee are in bonus territory now. Louth beat the two favs to go up Down away and Laois in Croke Park. Westmeath are the favs to win today. I will go for a narrow Louth win today. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 30/03/2019 08:43:41 2176346 Link 0 |
Delighted for Westmeath. Ref was poor apparently.... greysoil (Monaghan) - Posts: 965 - 30/03/2019 22:19:29 2176521 Link 0 |
Not the refs fault we beat ourselves plenty of chances to win that game full forward line poor lost the ball inside so many times maybe Jim at 14 Sam at 11 Andy back in the middle

The ref was bad though. Penalty tackle was similar to Moran's on Canning in the hurling last week in Nowlan Park AND was outside the area. Three yellow cards for Louth yet Williams took a heavy hit in the back off the ball and I think the ref waved play on. Louth didn't take advantage of the first half chances and they will be hurting for a while. Overall, they were far more competitive and organised than the shambles of last year.

Great display of refereeing. I didn't see as good in many a long day.

Seriously Biler? Has to be a wind-up! Louth had plenty of chances in first half but Westmeath definitely got easier frees. Best of luck in the Final. in_a_bind (USA) - Posts: 62 - 03/04/2019 14:54:36 2177505 Link 0 |
I will go with Laois to win at the weekend. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 03/04/2019 16:36:57 2177531 Link 0 |
You'd have to go back to Pat McEnaney to find as good. He's one of the best on the go at the moment.

Laois by 4-6 points at 5/1 in bookies. I'd take that.

I'll leave it at that Biler. He must be a relation. Apologies, he had an off day, much like our forwards! That is what disappoints the supporters. The team were given little chance this year but when they got so close, the chances were not taken. Hope springs eternal in our county. Enjoy the game. in_a_bind (USA) - Posts: 62 - 04/04/2019 10:11:18 2177635 Link 0 |
Will have to go for Westmeath for obvious reasons. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 04/04/2019 12:36:23 2177667 Link 1 |
Good man RD, nice to see you shouting for your adopted county! Sure you might even make the trip up to Croke Park for it :-)

Well done Westmeath, had players like Heslin, Egan, Martin. BliainanÁir (Laois) - Posts: 598 - 06/04/2019 18:35:16 2177922 Link 0 |
Well done Westmeath on a fairly dominant win. Two trophies now for Jack Cooney who seems to really have the players buying in for him. Always rated the likes of Egan (who keeps improving), Heslin, Dolan and Kieran Martin. Very impressed by Wallace especially. Said it last weekend and during the week that while very impressed by Meath last week reaching a Leinster final be no gimme. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2779 - 06/04/2019 21:15:31 2177933 Link 2 |
Congrats to our neighbours, Westmeath. The standard of play was poor though - much lower than the D 4 final, It's difficult to see either having much of an impact in the Leinster c'ship this year. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 06/04/2019 22:34:40 2177937 Link 1 |
Brody needs to rethink his forays up the field. They have to have a purpose, too many yesterday seem to be just for the sake of doing it.
