Wheres the evidence they actually had it?? And who cares to be honest

Replying To Young_gael:  ""Meathness". Its an oxymoron. Its a county of commuters, a county of people who invariably migrated here. Reams of young men and women my age wear Dublin jerseys and speak with pseudo-Dublin accents in places like Oldcastle and Kells, never mind Ashbourne or Clonee. The old "wild buck" reputation of Meath people died during the celtic tiger. And its a contributory factor of our current predicament."
It's very easy to kick a lad when there down. And there no shortage of them. But let's thank them for remining us ever so often, in case anyone needs reminding .

I apologize to all other users if I seem overly negative today. I just see a hell of a lot of issues with Meath GAA, bigger than the 15 lads on the pitch. I'm hoping for a good turnout tomorrow. It seems the conditions will be bad to awful. I can see those conditions suiting Tipp if I'm honest but in the spirit of positivity I'm going to go for a Meath win by 3 points. It'd be great to see the full forward line click tomorrow and give us a bit to cheer about.

Not that it matters, but team was correctly named in Fridays Examiner ( pull out sports section) so they had it previous night. Made up to four attempts to post team on this forum, in reply to RD and Jack H but for whatever reason Admin did not allow. Waiting to see if this one makes the grade.

Replying To Furlong1949:  "Sean Boylan is a man who understands and knows Meath football better then anyone alive. Sean was talking in a radio show. And this is what he said, I dont have exact words. This is summary what he said. He said Meaths traditional passion never say die spirit , the problem is sucessfully having that passion and mixing or gelling it with modern football tactics we have failed ,it hasnt worked yet.

What Sean meant was Meath football was off the cuff , it was all passion, 110% gut determination . An organised chaos where every player fought for the ball like their lifes depended on it. It was instinctive. Modern football is more thoughtful , tactic driven , Meath have failed to mix the old values with modern possession football. How do you get young men to go through brick walls but also play in a modern way. I probaly havent explained that well.

We need to become ruthless , but that was the Meath way. We were the most rutless county in Ireland. 15mins left other counties wilted we upped a level and became stronger and more skilful. The fact is for us to be sucessful our young footballers have to tap into that Meath physhe, a stubborn , a thick unyielding unbending ruthless incredibly efficent never say die spirit. But also play the modern game sucessfully. Be tactically aware.
Its still there. When I see our minors beat Dublin year after year. When I see us put up to Tyrone its still there. There are no rainbows and snowdrop mentality in Meath football. Meath football was built on hard work , incredible determination and unyielding desire to not give an inch to the opposition. If our young players are to be sucessful they need to tap into those values.

The two most sucessful team of last 20 year kilkenny hurlers and Dublin footballers . Cody and Galvin always talk about the traditions and values of kilkenny hurling and Dubin football. Galvin constantly refers to the Dublin way to Vincents and Heffernan. Galvin and Cody built their teams on the shoulders of great Dublin and kilkenny men. They knew what makes their county tick. They played in modern way with their values intact and understood. We need to play in a modern ruthless way , a pragmatic way , but also with that passionate spirit that shook Irish summers year after year. Thats the way to our comeback."
You need the management to b right for that to happen.you talk of lads from all over meath in your essay.we seem to b stuck in one area

Couldnt make the game due to unforseen circumstances. 0-15 to 1-08? Good result. What's the verdict on the game?

delighted with the result Glasgow, this is a big result mentally, when tipp got to within a point we kicked again and actually won comfortably, the last few seasons this was a game we could have left behind so i'm delighted with that.To have biggy and o Sullivan as impact players is encouraging and they made us stronger in the last quarter. hopefully we can keep these performances consistent throughout the campaign

Great to win the 1st game and will be interesting next week. I didnt expect the win today at all despite tipp missing a few lads as we are missing a good few too. Cos and reilly did well when they both came on.

I presume he is from North Meath so I'll ask the same question I always ask. What players aren't on the panel that should be and haven't been asked. Anyway, very good win today. Tipp's goal was lucky and we were by far the better team. Donegal next week will be very tough but with no Murphy and McBrearty it isn't impossible. Our tackling looked much better today compared to last year and our kickouts look an awful lot more settled

Fantastic to get the win. We fully deserved it and if we didn't come out with 2 points it would have been two lost.

A lot of positives (our attack from the back, interplay, midfield and game management bringing on Reilly and O Sullivan). We kept a cool head and kicked on when needed.

Obviously there were sloppy parts of our game. Poor shot selection, several misplaced passes straight to opposition, and general wrong options.

Overall encouraging and hopefully we can get a result in Ballybofey next week.

Every one of those players have been asked in or involved at some stage, except maybe hanlon. Scully and Reilly were involved this year if you actually followed all the games

Good shout on Lynch who definitely should be given a go as gk (as should the Blackhall gk).

Mattimoe is talented no doubt but how is his temperment? The others from Ballinlough I disagree that they should be on the panel. Scully from Oldcastle maybe but he's not a glaring omission like for example Larkin or McCarthy ( who presumably have turned down the chance)...

Generally I think McEntee has cast the net pretty wide and has the best available involved.
