Replying To crannumber2:  "Personally i think the Wilson shipped has sailed, perhaps its time to look outside the county for help"
Wilson is not county management material. Ronan and his set up are the best people to get the most out of a young and limited squad (as proved by CR Final).
Who else is out there for county hurling?
Crans- Some too old and some still too soft.
Galgets- Can't get enough too train.
Ports- Best on the Ards currently and represent well on county, should be there year.
The squad are already carrying junior Belfast hurlers. It is a low ebb for Down hurling..

With a reasonable fee to say the least with every position he has took .... mustn't be enough in the county position for him

So what championship has Wilson won? I note you are always on here having a go at current Down set up....but he won Cuchulainns their only Armagh senior championship in 25 years and brought them to Ulster intermediate final, coached his own club to an Ulster junior final, won a Celtic Challenge and a couple u16s , reached two all ireland finals last year at u20 and senior...well known in Armagh he never took a penny when with Cuchulainns either....easy to have a go at a man from behind a keyboard but sad to see nameless people having a go at genuine hurling man to push their own agenda....

What I'm saying is that if he was that interested in the post why has he not presented an expression of interest rather than waiting to be asked ... there has been plenty of opportunities for him to throw his hat into the ring over the last 5 years
Personally don't think he's the right man for the post and he didn't exactly leave McKenna on good terms !!

Certainly not judging the current county manager on a juvenile team but at least he had the guts to step into the role, and yes I do remember Wilson landed a league for the Crans but I also recall him being chased out the gates not so long after it - hence his move to Belfast teams.
While I can't deny he has had success with various teams (some of them playing in a lower grade championship to bag a win) I'll wait until he takes on the county team before I make my judgement on his managerial capabilities.

Good win for the lads today against a surprisingly poor Roscommon team, thought they were better than that. However you can only beat what's put in front of you and we did just that. Chris Egan in particular excelled, must've scored 2-2 at least?

Only got the 1 goal according to Twitter. A home game for the county and the CB only put scores up at HT and FT, yet last night for the Gaelic updates every 2 seconds! Disgusting and disgraceful

Not far wrong- the length of the grass was a more interesting topic for a while during the second half.

Poor weather, poor opposition, poor hurling, poor game in a poor pitch. Some poor performances from Down players in conditions both sets of players had to play in. I'd say it will take time for that pitch to recover.

You'd have thought it would of been cancelled with the weather we've had past 3/4 weeks

Good chance Warwickshire had the flight booked and it would have cost a small fortune to rearrange.

Game was always going ahead somewhere.

Points in the bag. Move on.

They would have the flights booked and lads would have taken the time off work as well, if at all possible these games should be played as scheduled and the pitch wasn't in bad shape. The weather was unpleasant but nobody was in danger.
Umpires and linesmen get an awful lot of abuse on places like this but when you see them turning out on days like that it makes you appreciate what they do. The linesman in front of the stand in the 1st half looked as miserable as any poor soul iv seen in a very long time.
