Lynch is doing well to keep his place with a few very costly mistakes in recent games. Hopefully Heslin is on the bench if needed. A win is desperately need tomorrow evening to have any chance of getting out of D3.

I'll be honest and say that I've never rated Lynch, and never understood how he's kept his place in the panel, never mind the starting lineup.
Granted I haven't seen him live as much as other posters here but all I've ever seen him as is an engine stamina wise, with very little footballing acumen or know how. Relatively quick and a half decent man marker, but not a lad I'd hang me coat on.
Great to see Maguire and Heslin back in the frame, we've been going so well without John, you'd think he'll be worth 4/5 points a game once match fit.

Any insiders have knowledge on the status of Connellan , Holloway & Sharry? Be some addition to get Sharry and Paddy back.

Infairness to lynch I won't give out about him he's trained with his county for many years but he's not good enough .... also why are the two best wing backs in the last two years in Westmeath club football not getting a game Conor slevin tyrrellspass and David whelan lomans instead of constantly giving the same lads year in year out numerous chances. Be tough one this weekend but could sneak it with a few big performances big game for this team if they're looking to progress in the league.

I would agree with that Conor slevin is not being treated fairly . He is a top young players and is being completely overlooked

Not sure on Holloway but Sharry has moved to the Middle East (Not sure if it is Dubai or Abu Dhabi he's gone to) and Connelan is going back to Australia to play with a VFL team in the hope of getting a professional contract again.

We should not panic yet. This league is very open. I think we need to give the new management time to settle in. I do not agree with picking on one player particularly one who always works his socks off in a game. Our problems are closer to th opposition goals in my opinion.

We always seem to struggle against the northern teams. We'll hardly get a better chance to get a win away to Down than that, considering they were playing with 14 for most of it.
Having said that, the division is still wide open and there's a chance for redemption at home against Laois in the next round. The away trip to Louth is looking increasingly tricky now considering how they've turned it around.

I made the long trip to Newry. We played very badly. We missed penalty and probably 9 points as well as dropping 2 shots short. We didn't deserve to win if I'm honest. Westmeath easily could have zero points on the board now. I would have to question why the management team didn't push up an extra player in the last 20 minutes to try something different. The division is still very tight though. Need to beat Laois the next day and if Heslin is in contention for that game it would give everyone a huge boost.

good report matthew . are we being too cautious and not beliving in ourselves. we will need a huge performance the next day in order to beat what is a strong and high scoring laois team . jack and paschal are known ac negative coaches but
the new mark goes against that . i think unless we change our approach we could get well beaten by laois

While I agree that the pub comment was a bit unnecessary, I think your comment was unnecessary also. You and I both know that Johnny Duncan wasn't hinting at anything to do with Loughlins family. Trying to make him look like a monster. I'm sure the comment would have been made regardless of Luke's loss.

Some very narrow minded people commenting above. If ye followed the team you would know luke has played in all 3 league games so far. No need for sly digs or comments like that on this forum.
