Enough Is Enough

Makes no difference what part of the country it is sooner rather than later someone is going be really seriously injured. Just seen the footage of the minor game - a young lad close to coming off a concrete post after an attack by half a dozen opposition players. Those with the power to make changes will wait until after something horrific to come out with all the platitudes and how they will take action instead of doing something now. My own county is a joke like many with meaningless bans that are overturned or reduced when the heat has settled. It's going to take Croke Pk to do come down hard.

Can anybody tell me why the bans, etc were overturned/reduced for ballyholland & downpatrick clubd & players?

Terrible decisions in my opinion!! Really super example to youth!

Makes no sense but as usual county boards everywhere cave in to pressure at a local level after the initial publicity and bad press when they have to be seen to take a hard line. Once things quieten down local pressure and cronyism is applied the back tracking kicks in when the dust has settled.
Bans and discipline procedures need to be applied and enforced by Croke pk across the board rather than by county boards who are influenced by everyone from their friends and neighbors to county championship sponsors to county managers. A good number of these people involved in the discipline process would tell you that there is nothing much wrong with what's happening - ah sure it was a lot worse away back in the day is there take on it.

To your point localism takers over. When injury or any thing that is deemed violence occurs the investigation and punishment should be the authority of the GAA at the highest level. An obligation on the organizers (local Gaa) to report any incidents to the the police and provide the evidence they possess.

Replying To Uimhir.a.3.:  "Every week a serious incident, scenes of a woman being hit, supporters, players & management in serious free for alls, people kicked on the ground, refs assaulted, suspensions reduced by the GAA for serious assault on a player in Limerick & the whole time not a peep from those leading the Association, nobody in charge at the top."
They don't care about the local game
