5-In-A-Row Jargon Out Of The Sunday Game Lads

(Oldest Posts First)

"The first team ever to get 5-in-a-row" proclaimed Tomas O'Se on the Sunday Game last night. WRONG Tomas! Kerry Ladies did 9-in-a-row. The Cork women have done the 5-in-a-row, and indeed a 6-in-a-row. Ditto, Dublin and Kilkenny in Camogie (don't know the exact numbers, but more than 5 anyway). Tomas was obviously encompassing hurling in his observation. It is right to laud the achievement of these 17-year-old kids (it was a quality final), but let's not forget all the other Gaelic teams and players who have achieved the 5-in-a-row and at times more, in our association's history!

You can't really say yesterdays minor winners did 5 in a row as its not the same team obviously. How many of yesterdays team were there in 2014? 2013? 2015? The first county to do it fair enough.

I think tomás meant the first 5 in a row in the men's game.
Of course we're all well aware of the Kerry and cork ladies achievement .

Still some achievement by our young lads, that's 30 wins in a row as well , and only 6 of those 30 wins came at home.

Well done to the various Kerry teams in getting five-in-a-row. I wonder was he quick with that comment due to the fact Kerry people now realise that Dublin are heading towards 5 at senior level, making them the best team of all time. Despite all of Kerry's success and history by the end of 2019 people will no longer see them as producing the best team ever - this will hardly sit well in the Kingdom.

Easy Sam, 'there is many a slip betwixt the cup and the lip' as Kerry found out in '82.

I think shoulderghost has a point. There have been some fantastic achievements in the women's games. Tomás didn't think first.

All were teams of 17-18 year olds, of course there is always context and a fair wind, but a mighty achievement that needs to be acknowledged and not chipped away at.

We all knew what O Se meant really.
