If Kennelly can come back and do it in Kerry then why would it not be possible for Conor Mc Kenna to do it? Also I was listening to a podcast from Sally O's a few nights ago with a few ex players involved and it was discussed a little on that night and it wasn't being dismissed by those lads. Maybe you have better inside info Tommy,I was just curious and thought it an interesting idea."
Nobody with any sense was discussing it for real - it was banter. A joke. It was never serious.

Do you really think that Mickey Harte, or any manager, was going to play a lad who is making his career on the other side of the world in the AI final, ahead of fellas who have been slogging their guts out for years? He'd have had a mutiny on his hands.

Kennelly returned and played a full season with Kerry in 2009, so no comparison there. In 2002, he didn't play either, but was put on the bench by Paudi.

Stephen O'Neill, when he returned in 2008, had already won 2 AI senior & 2xU21 with that squad, plus he had a few all-stars and footballer of the year in his back pocket. He had also been playing club football all season.

Conor McKenna has never started a championship game for Tyrone, and left for Australia immediately after his minor campaign. He has played about 2-3 club games total in the last 3 years. He only returned to Ireland a couple of days ago.

Anyone who ever thought that this might happen was in dreamland.

He would be a great addition, maybe the perfect player to manmark Kilkenny? MH always thinks outside the box, it may be Tyrone are releasing the rumour as it's in their interest to keep Dublin guessing though."
he might be a mighty player and what have you, but if he is not involved, why the hell should he be parachuted in just because he maybe back and Tyrone are in a final...this ould sh*te goes on in the GAA up and down the country, with lads bursting a gut all year only for a some big named player NOTinvolved to arrive and hey presto he is on the team for the big game...we NEVER hear about the 4/5 lads at the other end of the panel who are get dissillusioned then and walk away many never to play again...the true Gael will say "oh they threw the toys out of the pram" etc...blame them for leaving saying they werent good enough etc and maybe not totally behind the team for leaving..this carry on is a cancer and an elephant in the room at many strands of GAA...you see its not really all about taking part..WINNING and WIN at any cost, no matter if its oppositon or a weaker player on your own team that has to be thrown under the bus...WIN anyway..If a player isnt involved all year he has no place being even considered for a final. The player himself should have the cop on and regard for those that are there not to accept even if coaxed by any manager to come back..but the GAA is a different animal...
