never seen him play live, but Barney Moylan (Offaly) late 1960's early 1970's supposed to be one of the best ever, I think he held Eddie Keher scoreless from play in a game...Outside Offaly Tony Browne & Ken McGrath(Waterford) & Ciaran Carey (Limerick) Pat Critchley & John Taylor (Laois)..they are only players that spring to my mind when put on the spot..there are numerous excellent hurlers who never won provincial, let alone an all Ireland.

Hard to know from a Dublin point of view. Older Dubs would talk about the Foley's and their ilk but for me it'd probably be some of the the newer crop. The temptation is to go for Conal Keaney but that's more for a 'what might have been' had he stayed hurling through his peak, he was still excellent when he returned but nowhere near the level he could've been. I'd maybe probably go for, honestly right now, Chris Crummey. The lad is the real deal and as good a half back as I've seen.

Outside of Dublin and it's a toss up between Ciarán Carey and Ken McGrath for me. I'd go for Ken as I saw more of him in his pomp.

There are many great players from Galway who never won an All Ireland but Ger Farragher wouldn't be in the top 20 imo. An excellent stickman and marksman but incapable or unwilling to win the hard ball. His performance in that semi final we lost to Tipp by a point after Ollie Canning got injured highlighted all his frustrating qualities. Its a game we would have won with a less talented but more tenacious player on the field that day.

You could probably write a book on this in Galway who never won an Alll Ireland, but Ollie Canning and big Joe Rabbite would be top of my list.

Liam Watson (Antrim)...and several other Antrim players over the years..Seamus Downey & Geoffrey McGonnigle (Derry) but we didn't see enough of them for people to realize they were outstanding hurlers!

An Absolute string of great players from Clare. Pat Cronin, Jimmy Cullinane, Johnny Callinan, Loghnane, Stach and Hehir.
In my own county Tom McGarry, Pat Hartnett, PJ Keane, Carey, and Kirby among others.
Overall Paddy Molloy Offaly

Paddy Molloy was an outstanding hurler you are true and correct..we are going back abit now with those lads..and people will say hurling was "different" etc..John Mullane, Paul Flynn, Aonghus O'Grady (Dublin) was and excellent hurler in the early 1980's if I rememer right...Allie Elliot of Antrim later 80's to mid 1990's I think..Mark Foley (Limerick), Gary Kirby also..Micheal Hickey of Waterford...Ger Manley of Cork and Barry Egan..excellent hurlers...

I was delighted Watson got his club All Ireland medal with Loughgiel in 2012. A truly outstanding performance of 3-7 from him In the final in Croke Park.

He wasn't everyone's cup of tea in Antrim but by god he was a mercurial forward. Unmarkable by times.
Hard bit of stuff too.
