Replying To Trump2020:  "Ok Galway have been installed as favorites but it wouldn't be a YUGE upset if Limerick beat them. 50/50 like someone above said sounds good to me. Some questions though:

1. Is 3 weeks too much time off versus the 2 weeks Galway will have?

2. How do Limerick compare to Waterford from last years final?

3. Are Galway as good as they were last year or have they lost their bite?"
3 weeks might hurt their accuracy early in the match. First quarter might go to Galway by a fair amount.

I think this Limerick team are younger and faster than last years Waterford team. It could give Galway headaches to keep up with them.

Galway are as good as last year but the new format and amount of Hurling they've played over the past few years has caught up with them.

Fancy Limerick they have everything in their armoury and that hunger and desire is something you cannot measure. If Galway match it should be some final.

As a matter of interest, who do Galway supporters want to ref the final?

Anybody consistent and fair, that's all both teams want.

Panel of 10 refs, take out the Galway and Lk men, 8 left. No Antrim or Ulster refs, very poor by the GAA, 1 Connacht Ref.

8 to choose from, Mc Grath from Wmeath, Cleere from kk Keenan from Wick, lyons, Kirwan from Cork. odwyer from Carlow,
any of those 6 for me, not a big fan of Owens Wex and Horan TIPP, I suppose one of the other Leinster refs would be appropriate

As a Galway man I feel it is in our our own hands.

For much of the first half of the semi Limerick's armoury seemed pretty light. Maybe it was nerves but their ball control was very poor - I lost count of the number of times Limerick players took the ball down with their hurleys straight to Cork players. They were knocked off the ball with ridiculous ease several times and their marking was so loose that Cork were continually allowed to pass the ball, unhindered, the length of the field. The fact that they were still in the game after 25 mins was down to Cork's inability to score. If they start like that against Galway they are likely to find themselves too far adrift to be able to claw it back as they did in the semi.

Replying To ZUL10:  "You forgot to mention that Clare beat Limreick. You cant just overlook this as it really thows a spanner in your theory. . And there was nothong 'easy'about any of the games you mentioned."
Are you serious - there was nothing easy about the Waterford game. The same Waterford team that were robbed against Tipp and took Cork down to the wire. Limerick beat Tipp by six points and Gullane missed three or four frees that he would have scored with his eyes shut last Sunday week. It may not have been easy, but we certainly beat Tipp far easier than either Galway or Clare did in their last outings against the Premier County.
As regards my 'theory', I have no theory, I was merely highlighting the fact that because a team played one bad game in past six months does not guarantee they will be easily beaten in the final and that using results in that fashion is no great help in predicting the outcome of any game. I do not for minute claim for example that because Cork beat Clare twice and we beat Cork that that indicates we have a better than Clare. That simply is not how it works.

Well I cant see too many of us being too happy either about this. I feel he was very poor in our games V both Cork and Clare.

If that's not how it works, then comparing performances of teams v Tipperary '18 & Tipperary '17 hardly works very well either for comparative purposes. Galway beat Tipp by 1pt in the '17 semi, but by 16pts in the '17 NHL final, so if you plug our 2017 NHL final result into your little comparative algorithm there, we might pop up the ranking chart!!

That's funny because most agreed we should have been further ahead after spurning 3 clear goal chances.
