Leinster And Ulster Failing On Provincial Football Imbalance?

(Oldest Posts First)

Connaught and Munster have less than 8 teams. Both football championships have less than a full compliment of quarter-finals. I would classify these championships as a single branch structure.

Leinster and Ulster have more than 8 teams. Both football championships have a full compliment of quarter-finals. I would classify these championships as a double branch structure.

The first round in Connaught and Munster are the quarter-finals. The first round in Leinster and Ulster are the preliminary rounds.

Have the Leinster and Ulster provincial councils failed on lobbying against this provincial football imbalance?

It would seem at the very least that semi-final losers from Connaught and Munster should enter the qualifiers at the same stage as losers from the Leinster and Ulster quarter-finals. Semi-final losers from Leinster and Ulster should enter the qualifiers at least one round later to offset the provincial imbalance.

No they are not failing and you shouldnt just change things like this. Far more things should be changed before this but then again you dont want a radical change to championships as it would make kerrys chances much harder.

It can be changed. A lot of people from these provinces complain about the numerical imbalance yet their provincial councils do not bring forward motions to negate the imbalance.
