I heard a story about Jack McCaffrey and Monaghan's Karl O'Connell racing each other down O'Connell St one night and O'Connell won. gaelicgab (USA) - Posts: 878 - 16/07/2018 12:49:53 2122656 Link 0 |
I'm not saying Jack is the fastest player in Gaa if they had a 100 metre sprint but with ball in hand there's no doubt in my mind he is the quickest, the way he solo's it he keeps it low and doesn't lose any stride it's some spectacle when your in CP and you see him sprinting up the field lads just can't get near him. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 16/07/2018 13:03:02 2122666 Link 1 |

But it was O'Connell, St. Dublin, just another incident where Dublin had an unfair advantage over their opponent.

One of the most amazing things i think ive seen in a while was his stealing of the Donegal kick out late in the second half on Saturday evening must have made up + meters during the time the ball was kicked by their keeper to the Hogan side to perfectly field it, its the use of his pace and composure without a doubt.

Would say Shane Walsh and Eamonn Brannigan from my own county. Walsh is one of those who is actually faster moving with the ball which is great to watch. tribesman125 (Galway) - Posts: 173 - 16/07/2018 18:36:30 2122846 Link 0 |

Bring back Superstars. It's the only way to separate them. Look at this dashing young man, complete with farmer's tan, from back in the day. https://youtu.be/wZUJ_bV2eHk Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 16/07/2018 19:27:44 2122866 Link 1 |
Faster over what distance would be the question. Some are mentioning 100m, but acceleration and speed over 20m-40m is far more important in Gaelic football. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2049 - 16/07/2018 19:28:44 2122870 Link 2 |
The superstars was great craic in its day. Wonder would any TV station try and revive it. Saw it on American TV a couple of years ago where it had retired NFL , NBA etc players on it.
