Anybody know why only the Kerry Galway game had a national anthem yesterday?

It is only ever played at the start of the second (perceived main) match.

If there's a double header the national anthem is always played before the second game.

Never an anthem for the first game of a double header

They never play the anthem for the first game in my experience.

Anthem only played once a day. Only ever played before the second game or last game.

Are you a new attender to GAA matches? It is never played before the first match. Traditionally the minor game was played first and then the Senior game, they just haven't reviewed this protocol.

That must be it. They must sing Ireland's Call before the Sky games to keep the British audience happy.........

Sky seems to be the easy target for someone to blame even though its been happening for several years even before sky

Has NEVER been played prior to first game. Only before second, in all my years going to matches if it's a double header it's only played before second match or main event, actually it should be reserved for finals only. But that's another debate. Nothing to do with sky.

The only disgrace is playing it at every match. Diluting it's significance for every micky mouse game. National and provincial finals. ONLY.
Btw not saying super 8s is micky mouse but obc even league games it shouldn't be played as it's not a national event therefore reduces the significance of the anthem. Imo the anthem should be played for league finals provincial deciders and all ire finals. No other games

Kildare v Monaghan wasn't classed as the major game, the 'main' game was Kerry v Galway, that's the way it is for every double header in the past, the same on Saturday with Dublin v Donegal as the main game, just the way the times were set up, if Kerry v Galway was the 1st game then the National Anthem would have been played for the Kildare Monaghan match

I think the Artane Band was probably one of the most entertaining things in Croke Park that day, indeed for the whole weekend......
