Things You'd Like To Put In GAA's Room 101

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Doesn't have to be so serious...

For starters......

1. Darragh Maloneys measurments - Mad obscure numbers he comes out with lol .. Free kicks and shorts from 33 mtrs, 46 mtrs etc .. Never seen a commentator try and get the exact distance to the nearest cm of a free kicks distance from goal right for example.

2. Umires. - Pointless exercise. Don't do their jobs anyway.

3. The provincial championships. Again, like above, A pointless exercise.

4. Colour clash, no problem, BOTH teams change kits... Where is the logic ? Do away with that nonsense.

5. Goalkeepers waving wide when its a clear score.

1 Joe & Pat.
2 Parades before games.
3 Marty's Hit Squad, a brutal programme.
4 Analysis before, during & after games. Way too much.
5 Palestinian flags.
6 Goalkeepers hitting frees.

Great topic. I could be here a while.

When your sitting in a stand and someone beside you has his legs spread out ridiculously wide invading your space.

People going to watch a football match drunk out of their heads. what's the point? you wont remember it. no problem with a few pints but some people turn up off the heads, miss the first 10 mins and slabber the rest of the game.

people trying to sit in your seat when they aren't supposed to be there ie they are in a poor seat somewhere and try to sit in the centre of the pitch, then you see them moving from seat to seat and people are going up to them telling them that's my seat, its a sell out, the seats are going to be taken.

People shouting for managers to get sacked when they haven't managed a team in there lives. The same for pundits, at least Kevin McStay had the balls to put his money where his money is. maybe Brolly should do the same.

The GPA

The Black card.

People saying Offaly should stay in the Liam McCarthy because they were good 20 odd years ago. No they shouldn't, they aren't good enough this year.

I will be back with more id say

The idea that it's great fans aren't segregated. Other fans really annoy me. I'd much prefer to just be with the laois crowd.

Is Ger's neck in roomy 101 ? Genuine question.

Fellas saying " genuine question".

People putting up play down posts about their counties chances as if somehow it will make the slightest bit of difference.

Poxy GAA strips that cannot vary remotely close to being fashionable in most cases.

Interviews that are a complete waste of time with a fella who could pass as a politician when it comes to waffle.

The inability of a pundit to say that a foul was complete dirt other than calling it a mistimed challenge or he's not that kind of player.

Stewards at games who do nothing when walkways are completely blocked. No health and safety issues there then obviously.

Idiots at games roaring stuff when the intended target could never hear them.

Drunken youngsters usually up from the country who have little or no idea of what happened in the game because they are off their heads when they arrive and occupy the hill on final and Semi final days.

Naming the entire competition (as opposed to the cup) after distinguished Gaels.

Firstly because the competition should have a descriptive name in my opinion. Secondly because there's no guarantee the competition will be all that popular or last too long (Tommy Murphy cup). And thirdly when the competition gets scrapped it seems a bit of an insult to the persons memory and their family (as the Joe McDonagh inevitably will be in a few years when people realise that championship reshuffle #2376 somehow still hasn't solved hurlings problems)

It also adds to what I see as "grade inflation" where the competition name is constant even though the level it represents can change drastically.
e.g. this year the Christy Ring is the 3rd tier of hurling, but the history books will have it of equal weight with the Christy Ring of 10 years ago which represented a higher level. The 2 finalists of the CR this year will nominally be the 19th and 20th best teams in the country. In 2009 the 19th and 20th best teams in the country were playing the CR relegation playoff to send one down to Nicky Rackard level.

That last post should read "17th and 18th best teams". The point is still the same though.

I'd put people that say this years football championship isn't a foregone conclusion as the dubs have it in the bag.

I'd also put Dessie Cahill and Marty morrisey in there.
