Never watched it as I wouldn't understand a word they were saying. Does it matter if you have a nice tone to your voice if 80% of your target audience hears jibberish coming out of it? Can't wait for Joanne to take over actually, now there is someone who knows the gaa inside out. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 26/04/2018 20:40:32 2095171 Link 0 |

I'm far from a gealgoir but there was subtitles and at least 80% of the player interviews were in English

If you can't understand a single word of it having gone to school in Ireland then that is your own problem and issue, and says a lot in itself. I'm always surprised when people wear their ignorance with pride. Once a show is subtitled it doesn't matter what language the show is in, if it is good it is good. Agree that Joanne Cantwell is a good shout for the Sunday Game gig. I think she's a good presenter. Michael Lyster, though a competent and affable broadcaster, has always just let the pundits away to say whatever irrelevant waffle they want to, and when the pundits are Brolly, Spillane and O'Rourke that is an issue. If you can't understand what the panellists are saying, how do you know it's gibberish?

Micheal was on radio 1 with Sean O Rourke yesterday...he has one of those voices I could just listen to all day. There will never be another one like him.

I have no interest in it. Btw latest census would suggest I in majority. And also could point to way it is thought. Funny thing I rose through my employment to become a large employer myself, and never once did I need it. It has never held me back. So it's pointless

Going to matches with my Dad when I was a kid. It didn't matter a bit when Roscommon used to beat us regualry in the 70s. He was and still is The King. I think that's the reason many people love the GAA. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7369 - 24/05/2018 10:18:20 2103471 Link 2 |
From reading you last post, the way you were taught English could do with a little work too.

Those were the days. Life was simple and uncomplicated. That expressed our identity along with the flag and anthem. We still have the latter two. Still feel a huge sense of pride in other. I miss thedays when football was a 15 man game, no massed defences. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1749 - 24/05/2018 10:51:36 2103484 Link 0 |
