Kicks off this weekend. Castlebar going for four in a row. Claremorris look like only genuine contenders.
Aghamore v Ballaghadreen - Local Derby. Aghamore playing at higher level in league. Ballagh with Cunniffe, Akram, Drake, Hanley & Moran all involved with Development Squads or Senior Squad. Interesting match but Aghamore by 4.
Castlebar v Ballina - Ballina caught Castlebar in third group game last year. Dont see them winning this one. Regan and Treacy havent featured yet for the Stephenites. Vaughan & Moran havent played for Castlebar. Catlebar have huge squad and will win by 6-8 points
Charlestown v Knockmore - Played out a draw at same stage last year. Charlestown have lost Niall Murphy who scored two goals in that game. Knockmore havent been pulling up any trees yet this year. Still expect Knockmore by 5
Moy Davitts v Garrymore - Moy Davitts playing in Division 2. Big day back in Senior grade and expect big performance. Garrymore in a false position in league beat a Carramore team short Hollymount players in first game and Crossmolina rested players before championship last weekend. Will be close but Moy Davitts have a few classy forwards in Reape & Heneghan and Garrymore very ordinary all over. Moy Davitts by 1.
Crossmolina v Westport - Westport putting in a huge effort under Horan, they are very young and will probably need another year or two. Crossmolina are in transition will have a few big players back but still Horans guile to count for Westport. Westport by 3
Hollymount-Carrmore v Claremorris - Holly-Carra had most of their regulars back last weekend against Kiltimagh. They will be up for this with game in Carramore. We will have way too much for them with Brian Gallagher & John Hutton back we are on a mission. Claremorris by 5
Davitts v Ballintubber - Davitts suffered a loss to Islandeady at the weekend after a great win in Belmullet. Boyler will be back but Ballintubber will have too much for them even with their injury crisis, Tubber by 6
Breaffy v Kiltane - Think this will be a great game, Kiltane seem to have got their act together with their All Ireland Manager and a new GPS system. Breaffy need to lay down a marker at home but I think this will be a Draw

Mayo Senior Championship group 1:
Castlebar Mitchell's V
County champion Castlebar enter 1st step of their 4 In a row and should be stronger if Donal Vaughan is fit to play and a improved discipline this year.
2 point win over Breaffy last week was a perfect warm up for them.
Ballina return to Division 1 football after a 3 years absent with a fine young squad with J.Irwin, C.Treacy & J.Doherty.
They have lost their 1st 2 games but they did Castlebar last year in the final group game but did Castlebar try? Despite already qualified to the knockout.
Castlebar by 4
Probably 2 even match sizes as I expect big things from Aghamore as they failed to impress last year by not reaching knockout but relegation playoff they have a bundle of young talent from U21A success 2015-2016
Ballaghderrren has got off the radar since their 2012 success but have Cian Hanley back (rusty in his performance in their Division 2 defeat to Ballinrobe an fortnight ago.
Akram, K.Rodgers, B.Regan and A.Moran will be key.
Charlestown Sarsfields V Knockmore
Charlestown would have been kicking themselves not to have beaten Knockmore in the 1st round 12months ago despite 7 points up and Charlestown are a bogey team to Knockmore and it must be awhile since Knockmore beat them in the championship.
Charlestown fallen giants from 2009 success, still experience T.Parsons, A.Higgins (35+), C.Maye, G.O'Donnell at their disposal.
Knockmore will be expecting to win a County title this year going 21 years since their last success 1997 and were little unlucky last year 1/4 final defeat to Castlebar only for Rory Byrne excellent save. Knockmore are a well established Senior club and I expect them to push Castlebar this year.
Knockmore by 3
Bohola Moy Davitts V Garrymore
The Foxford side has returned to Senior football for the 1st time since 2010 and judging them by last year success I believe they will struggle to stay Senior this year.
They need Sean Kelly flying and (Brian Reape/Conal Quinn think they are both away and big losses.
Garrymore like Knockmore are well established Senior club and unlucky not to beat Castlebar Mitchell's in last year Semi Final draw game.
T.Nally, D.Dolan, J.Killen will be key men.
Garrymore by 3
Hollymount/Carramore V Claremorris
Hollymount/Carramore need to get their shop in order fast following their last 2 league defeats and with the ongoing off the field troubles it's sad because they will not be a Senior team if they both go their separate ways.
Claremorris are in good form following their 1st 2 League wins, and like Westport and Aghamore excellent underage and I expect a good Championship from them and they reached the Semi Final last year for the 1st time since 2008.
Crossmolina Deel Rovers V Westport
The deel rovers probably would have been playing Intermediate football this year only for their excellent 2nd half performance in last year final group game V Ballinrobe who were leading by 6pts at HT and eventually relegated to Intermediate.
Crossmolina have been hammered in the last 2 league games Claremorris (15) Garrymore (20) they need to C.Loftus, F.Duffy, C.Carolan, Hugh & Tom Cafferky taking up leadership from past leaders like the Nallen's & Joe Keane.
Westport under James Horan are flying but playing Division 2 and plenty of youth such as F.McDonagh, P.Lambert, P.O'Malley and Moran.
Westport by 4
Davitts V Ballintubber
Davitts are team that could be in the relegation play-offs later this year and have been Senior football since 2012 and I'm certainly sure they have failed to reached the last 8 in each of them seasons.
They need R.McNamara and determined Colm Boyle at full throttle.
Ballintubber remain in the top 3 Senior in Mayo may be the team to stop Castlebar success or Knockmore.
The O'Connors were poor last year and need them in top form both club & county.
Ballintubber by 4
Breaffy V Kiltane
Breaffy a team with 6 County men on the panel 3 O'Sheas, R.Hennelly, M.Hall & M.Ruane (academy) Breaffy have failed to win a Senior Championship despite the disposal they have in the squad and maybe Roberto Wallace (America football star) might be the missing link following Breaffy AIB tv stint in 2016.
Kiltane a team that hard beaten on the day will need M.Sweeney, U.Corrigan, A.Carrabine & T.Gaughan (if fit) on form.

Mayo Intermedaite Championship
Ballyhaunis V Kiltimagh
Kiltimagh should be playing Senior football instead of Bohola Moy Davitts who were the better team but failed to finish the job yet there a long road back to the Intermediate final again.
Ballyhaunis an Senior team only 2 years ago and last year enter the Intermediate relegation play-offs and for a club in that size should be doing better in football maybe they are more focused on the hurling.
Kiltimagh by 4
Mayo Gaels V Belmullet
Mayo Gaels have been poor in this level for a long time and lost every game last year in Division 2 despite only promoted from Division 3. They have fine players in John/Adam
Gallagher and Lynch.
Belmullet have a very young team following U21 A final defeat by the minimum against Westport.
Eoin & Ryan O'Donoghue and Gerry Barret are key.
Belmullet by 2
Islandeady V Swinford
Islandeady have made huge improvements in the last 2 seasons 1/4 2016 & 2017 Semi Final following relegation playoff each year since 2013.
They have strong players in the Feeneys & Gordon's.
Swinford are operating in Division 4 which is a Junior B league and just about stayed up Intermedaite last year by beating Tourmakeady.
For a club that size struggling at Intermediate is poor.
Islandeady by 5
Bonniconlon V Burrishoole
Bonniconlon like Kiltane (Senior) always stay up Intermedaite, Bonniconlon have failed to reached the last 8 since the early 2000.
Burrishoole need to reach the heights of 2010-2013 losing 3 finals in a row.
Burrishoole by 3
Ballinrobe V Ardnaree Sarsfields
Ballinrobe returns to Intermediate for the 1st time since 2002.
Good start in the league hammering Ballaghaderren (Senior) lost away to Belmullet by a goal.
Donal Vaughan is gone but there is some fine young footballers in Ballinrobe in J.Quinn, E.O'Brien & D.McDonnell.
Ardnaree 3rd year in Intermediate and failed to get beyond the last 8 as people expect big things.
Castlebar Mitchell's B V The Neale
Castlebar to have an 2nd team operating at Intermediate since 2015 is a excellent achievement which can develop feeder players onto the Senior team.
K.Filan, R.Feeney, S.Fitzmaurice are the most experienced players of this young team.
I have a feeling that this Neale will be in the relegation playoffs later this year as they were poor last year winning relegation play off V Swinford and hammered at home last week at home to ordinary Intermediate team Mayo Gaels.
Castlebar Mitchell's B by 1
Parke/Keelouges/Crimlin V Louisburgh
Not much between the teams and all 4 teams in this group and all operating in Division 3.
Parke/K/C backed with John/Simon Coherty & Tom/Declan Neary.
Louisburgh hoping to go one step further from last year losing the Semi Final after just coming out of Junior.
Parke/K/C by 2
The border men have not been closed to returning to Senior since relegation in 2015, Intermediate Semi Final 2016 when Conor Mortimer made cameo appearance which wasn't enough to beat eventual All-Ireland Intermediate Champion Westport.
Lahardane return to Intermediate for the 1st time since early 2000s.
John Maughan will have them punching themselves above their weight again.
