Donegal V Mayo

The only thing up for decision next weekend who goes down with Kildare. A lot will rely on who takes the field for Mayo. How serious are the injuries to o Connor and Keegan?

Ooooooh this could be a cracker, this will surely be tg4s game of the day unless there is a game of stick ball on.

It's going to be great preparation for the Championship, we need to put in a top class performance to win because Mayo will be like a wounded animal after the hammering they got from Tyrone today, if we don't have Patrick Mc Brearty back then I think we won't be able to score enough to beat Mayo,
I think relegation would be very bad for this aging Mayo side but it might not do us much harm, we have blooded a lot of young talent in the league and a season in div 2 wouldn't do the young lads any harm, still though I'd prefer if we stay up.
Going to be a full house in Mc Cumhail Park, can't wait.

Not where either want to be, with Mayo being the closest thing to Dublin in the games that matter and Donegal improving it'll be a dour battle.

I think Mayo will struggle for scores particularly if o Connor is out injured. I think it will be a huge blow for Mayo if they go down. A lot will depend on who takes the field for Mayo. They really need all there front liners avail. Any word on O'Connor and Keegan injuries?

Mayo will wallop Donegal. Sure Bernard Flynn saidd last week that "mayo are back" He stated they are better than last year, and he knows best.

Your heads gone. They showed what or where they really are today. They went out with the same auld plan. Take out a few of Tyrones best players and get their tempers up and then they will roll over. Today's plan backfired completely as a new animal in Tyrone showed its head. When mayo introduced their plan Tyrone met fire with fire and it was Mayo who rolled over. I expect Donegal to beat them again next weekend.

Some game on the way

On today's performance alone it will be very hard for Mayo to turn that sort of performance into an away win up in Donegal with themselves fired up in front of their home supporters and fighting to stay up!

Pretty sure there was some tongue firmly in cheek there from my fellow tribesman.

Not really sure what to expect here in terms of intensity and intent. Both sides clearly treated the league with an eye for later in the year. An example of this is the experimental teams Bonner went with today and last week. Yes Donegal started the league in promising fashion with Paddy Mcbrearty to the fore but he probably won't be available at the weekend. The last 3 performances from Donegal have been mixed. Controlled the game for large parts against Kildare but should have lost given the goal chances Kildare did not convert. Done ok against Tyrone bar a 5 min period before and after HT. Today I thought Donegal were poor in the 2nd half. Monaghan thoroughly deserved the win today. Alot going to depend on who Mayo have available or not. I am pretty sure Mayo will dominate the middle third regardless but will their forwards convert? Well they won't have a better chance than again this porous Donegal defense who did show some slight improvement today but were still opened up far too easily for the Monaghan goal today. Playing in Baleybofey a big advantage for Donegal but doubt Mayo will be too daunted by that prospect either.

If Mayo win or draw then that will mean 3 Connacht teams in Div 1 next year, first time ever?

No starting Mayo forward scored from play.. They are in a terrible slump, people were getting excited last Sunday when they bet a poor poor Kidare team. Think if Donegal have Mc Brearty back Donegal will chin them..

I would be delighted if Mayo went out with your fiendishly ingenius plan today, but the truth is we went out without any plan and made it up, badly as it turned out, as we went along. A bit of aggression would have been welcome but we didn't put in a tackle throughout the game. We rolled over long before Tyrone had to go to the trouble of getting their tempers up. If the same Mayo turn up next weekend then you will certainly get your wish. Unless of course we go out with our new plan of taking out a few of Donegals best players, get their tempers up and the rest will be history. Now where did I leave Stephens number.........

Bernard Flynn was getting excited on rte radio when Mayo beat Kildare in Newbridge.Bernard thinks Mayo are better this year than in previous years. He may yet be proven right. As always, the Summer days will tell a tale.

Whatever way you look at it..

That was done hammering dished out to Mayo once again in front of their home fans

You can't just switch on form and now with injuries to key men.. they are in a spot of bother here

It won't say much for Rochford's managerial record if Mayo go down.

Has won zero silverware, really poor home record in front of large support and now possibly facing relegation (that's simply not good enough for the supposed 2nd best team in the country)

To think Mayo players revolted against Managers who actually brought more to the table that Rochford has yet to achieve across a longer time frame..

If I was a Mayo supporter I'd be starting to get fairly pee'd off watching such performances

Jimbo I can almost agree with some of your point but I don't believe Rochford has done less than Holmes and connelly. Sure they won a Connacht title but against Dublin in the replayed semi final mayo fell away so they didn't bring anything more to the table than horan and Horan beat Dublin and lost by one point in his record. Rochford definitely improved performance and arguably should have won two all Ireland's in a row.

Now in terms of performances in league and earlier rounds of the championship there definitely needs improvement and I would say we need to win Connacht this year if we are to achieve anything this year. This will be a make or break year for this team and management and with lads that were brought in for the league not quite looking up to it at the moment I can see us losing to Donegal and division one status this year.

Serious game ahead...winner takes all. I don't fancy our chances at this moment. Cillian (hamstring) and Leeroy (collarbone) is a disaster for us.

I'll be traveling up to Ballybofey in hope
