I see the Carlow manager talking up his midfield pairing of the two Murphy's, Brendan and Sean. A formidable combination and probably the best after Dublin in Leinster. Who has the best in the country for you? ISupposeSoSheehan (Meath) - Posts: 86 - 14/03/2018 15:32:41 2084569 Link 0 |

Not exactly a pairing as such, but when Mayo have the two O'Shea's and Parsons in the middle for kick outs it's fairly formidable. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13709 - 14/03/2018 16:01:25 2084575 Link 2 |
Our best midfielder mark O'Connor is in Oz :-( If he were home himself and jack Barry would be the best midfield in Ireland. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 14/03/2018 16:03:25 2084576 Link 0 |
If you want bring lads home from Oz. Tipp could bring O'Riordan back and him and O'Brien would be better in my eyes than that Kerry pair

McCarthy is better than Fenton.

Nah mark and jack would be too good for them cuckoo , mark o'connor Is lethal. Young jack Kennedy looks like he's going to be a good midfielder for tipp. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 14/03/2018 16:45:13 2084589 Link 0 |
Not in midfield.

Well he played midfield last year and was Dublin's best player. They were beaten in midfield by Mayo in the 1st half of the all ireland until McCarthy was moved back there and he went on to get man of the match. Fenton is a fine player but I've yet to see him turn the tide for them in a big game. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 14/03/2018 19:42:50 2084627 Link 0 |
You must not have been watching Fenton much in the last few yrs in my opinion he's the best footballer in the country at the moment. Mc Carty wasn't just moved to midfield for the second half he was midfield for most of last season.

That's because the tide is never against them. Fenton is the best midfielder and probably player in the country right now. I'd take him and McCarthy or whoever Dublin want to pair with him as my first choice midfield in the country. Fenton has a massive career in front of him.

I know he was. . .but was moved to wing back when Jack got injured and Mayo got completely on top of Dublin. When McCarthy was moved back to midfield, Dublin got on top again. That's my point. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 15/03/2018 10:21:25 2084699 Link 0 |
It was against them in last year's final until McCarthy was moved back to MF. It was against them in the 2016 replay until Kilkenny moved to MF. I'm not knocking Fenton, he's a fine player (and I agree, they're the best midfield pairing in the country), but I just think James McCarthy is the better player, and the better midfielder. Fenton may well go on to overtake him but right now I wouldn't say that he has. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 15/03/2018 10:24:28 2084701 Link 0 |

Our midfielders are up there but not the best at the minute, they are getting there though. O'Brien and Casey both have Sigerson medals and O'Brien has hit the ground running after two years with the hurlers. Jack Kennedy and Hannigan are strong backup options too. If you could convince Acheson and O'Riordan to come back (unlikely) we would have an embarrassment of riches at midfield. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 15/03/2018 13:53:59 2084736 Link 1 |
