Galway to win by 5+, Tyrone won't know what hit them, were very cocky the last time out in Div 2. Colm Kavanagh as play maker & sweeper is massive loss after Moy's win y'day. Master stroke to play them in Tuam Stadium where things will be far removed from what Tyrone are used to, esp after all the rain this week, it will be a mud fest. Galway lads used to mudfests & no hot showers this year. Damien Comer is going to be one of the Stars of Div 1 this year & footballers need to go well this year or he could end up being coaxed into the hurling squad. Eleven of the starting fifteen from the West Board, wheel has gone full circle. Great day for Killanin & Moycullen clubs. Every team will take Galway for granted in Div 1, Galway capable of staying up as a lot of big teams only coming back now without the same preparation as Galway & focusing on building for C'ship rather than league. Div 1 survival & possibly a league final with another Connacht title & an All Ireland semi final is well within the realm, good outside bet for the All Ireland, bookies in Galway could be cleaned. Good odds online at the moment.

From HoganStand

Niall Morgan says Tyrone won't be expecting any praise if they beat Galway this afternoon.

But he reckons the critics will be out in force should they lose to the newly-promoted Tribesmen in Tuam.

"Going to Galway for the opening game is probably the hardest game that we could go to, because everybody is expecting us to win, and no matter what way we go, we're going to be the losers out of it," the goalkeeper told the Tyrone Courier.

"If we win, people will say we were expected to win, and if we lose, people will say, what's going on here, why are you losing to Galway.

"We're just going to have to put the head down, and get ready for it. We'll have to be well prepared."

Hope the Galway lads have this in their minds today, Tyrone lads don't really rate us

Harte must go. Tyrone managed to outscore Leitrim, that's the only 'positive' to be taken from today. 5 points on the board and the game nearly up. Pathetic stuff, Tyrone starting this year where they left off last year.

Tyrone were a shambles today and they're discipline was a disgrace. Galway played well in parts but need to improve for next week. A great start in div 1 though..

Tyrone have been on the slide for a long time. Their emphasis on negativity, winding people up and stopping the opposition at all costs has rebounded on them. It has stifled the talent and footballing ability within the county and gave rise to a generation of physical preprogrammed robots devoid of their own thinking and creativity. Mickey Harte should have stepped aside 5 years ago and let a management team step up who let their players actually play.

I see the naysayers and doom mongers are out in force. Sure if we beat the Dubs next week we will be favourites for the all Ireland. Well done to Galway-fully deserves by the sound of it.
I couldn't go to the game put got it on Galway Bay Radio and the commentary on it was disgrace. Should never be a load on radio again.

Poor Mickey followed one team through to 2003. No ideas no direction. Even after the disaster of the Dublin game last year he still persists with the stupid hand passing side to side and backwards, allowing other teams to get back and defend. He should have left after the beating we got by Cork in 2009. Whar has changed since.

Still negative I see. Galway deserved to win and they seemed that they wanted to win more.
Well done Galway!

You have no idea, were you in Tuam Mr Derry? I call it how i see it, ask any Galway supporter and they will tell you we deserved the win and played well in parts but a lot of improving.

Nothing. That dreadful, sideways, backwards, possession basketball s***e is just awful to watch and totally unproductive. It must also be be disheartening to play.

Good start for our neighbors. Tyrone play with fear. It is about stopping the opposition as opposed to expressing yourself and playing football.

It's a shame because Tyrone have skillful footballers. The club game with Moy and an Gaeltacht was terrible to watch too.

Do Tyrone fans think a change is needed in management ?

I know there is a lot of room for improvement, Galway Football isn't just there yet but they getting there. Look at quality players there are, look at the talented youth coming up from Minor and U-21/20, all im saying is Belclare you can be realist and optimistic at the same time and there's no need to to be telling people what to do and what not to do on a forum that is there for people to start topics for conversation and to give opinion on matches and other things. Does it ever occur to you that people enjoy engaging in conversation about Football and Hurling. I wasn't is in Tuam as i was up in Celtic Park at the two matches.
So Belclare just be a we bit more respectful on others opinions because your not always right yourself.

Agree with Harte at helm this bunch of talented footballers will never realise their potential instead they will be forced to go against their natural instincts - I have been a fan of Harte at the start but over past few years I've come to dislike this negative brand of football - you'd think the beating they took from Dubs last year would make them rethink - instead they give Harte a few more years - I know some Red Hand Gaels and they hate the fact that Harte got an extension!!!! See them going down possibly - they could win Ulster which isn't that strong but that's it!!!!
