Great victory for the Kerry hurlers today, beating Cork at senior for the first time in GAA history. A mighty win in Tralee regardless of Cork fielding a weakened team.

Not so! Ballyduff (Kerry) beat Blackrock (Cork) by 2-7 to 0-3 in the 1891 championship on their way to the All-Ireland title.

Pretty meaningless in fairness. It was only a challenge game with Cork fielding a team of try outs.

Well done Kerry. It was a meaningless match. However, John Meyler is the first manager of a Cork inter County senior hurling team to lose to Kerry. An unwanted piece of history. Could not happen to a nicer fella...

How can you say that it's meaningless? The way you're saying it, you would swear Kerry hurling victories over Cork were two a penny. Any Kerry win over a Cork team in hurling is meaningful. A Limerick win over Cork in the same competition would be closer to being meaningless but I think even you would say it would have some meaning.

The result will be of little importance come championship time but it's an insult to the players to called it a meaningless game.

Meyler's management style is essentially his way or the door. He definitely is not everybody's cup of tea.

Didn't mean to be disrespectful to Kerry by calling it 'meaningless'. Kerry have never beaten Cork at any grade in hurling. Hence for them to beat us, obviously gives them some pride and confidence. They should take whatever they can get from that. People should not patronise them either though. They are doing well with very limited resources. Are there even 20 hurling teams at adult level in Kerry? They are doing well but they have miniscule resources compared to the other counties in Munster. We should not read much into today's result.

North Kerry should be split in two.

Split Ballyduff in two with two Boyle brothers on each side.

You'll get split in two if you play in North Kerry :-)

A great little victory and hopefully it will put a spring in their step for the League campaign, we need to get back up to 1B.

2A will be fierce hard to get out of with Carlow, Westmeath and Meath in there but Austin Stack Park can be a fortress and no more chips for the players after last night.

While I am slightly more football great win for Kerry. In fairness the part of North Kerry that is hurling territory are as passionate as any hurling fans. I hope this can be a building block for our Kingdom brethern. Might stifle their football prowess lol. All jokes aside a nice early season boost for the underdog. Still I expect big things from Cork this season.
