Should have a good team again next year. 21 of this years panel of 36 eligible for the U21 grade again next year. They begin the defence of their title against Clare in Ennis on May 9th 2018. The winners of this game will play Tipperary in the semi-final. Under the new system both the winners and defeated provincial finalists advance to the All-Ireland semi finals. Limericks starting 15 could be something along the lines of this:
1. Eoin McNamara
2. Conor Mcsweeney
3. Willie O'Meara
4. Jack O'Grady
5. Paddy O'Loughlin
6. Kyle Hayes
7. Finn Hourigan
8. Darragh Carroll
9. Thomas Grimes
10. Conor Boylan
11. Barry Murphy
12. Brian Ryan
13. Peter Casey
14. Seamus Flanagan
15. Oisin O'Reilly

Luke Doran, Mikey Mackey, Paudie Ahern, Brian Nash, Ciaran O'Connor, Conor O'Grady, Josh Adams could also force their way into the starting 15 plus some players who played very well for the minor hurling team this year, Paul O'Brien, Conor Nicholas, David Woulfe, Jerome Boylan, Dan Minehan, Michael O'Grady Mikey O'Brien Conor Flahive etc.

You do realize their is no under 21 Competition in 2018, only an under 20 one. How many of these boys are under 20 on the 1st of January 2018?

Sorry my mistake, but that is great news.Very happy to be wrong in this case, as we appear to have a very strong panel again.

Great to win the under 21 this year and 2 years ago but let's stay settled here. It's an underage competition and there's no real value in winning it again in 2018 if it destabilises the senior team. That s my view on it anyway. Very easy to say let's focus on the underage again and in a few years.....

We may aswell pull out of the u21 competition altogether next year if that's the case... I don't understand how having successful underage teams could possibly destablise the senior team

Adam O'Brien from Ahane will probably be in goals. Ciaran O'Connor from Kilmallock and Darragh Carroll from Newport are two players who should be in the starting 15 as well. Are Conor Nicholas, David Woulfe and Paul O'Brien on the panel? They were the three standout performers for the Limerick Minor hurlers last year.

Why is a panel of 37 needed?? Apart from the obvious costs of such a big panel, no more than 23 or 24 will probably see championship. Wouldn't the remainder be better of training and playing for their clubs?

Good Win eventually . Took a long time to kill them off and thats a small concern considering we were far superior to them . when goal chances arrive we have to take them , we should have had about 4 in the first half and another 2 or 3 more in the 2nd but lets be positive the team looked good at times and picked out each other fairly well .
Tipp will be a much tougher task and we wont get away with sloppy play and missed goal chances with them but the game yesterday will stand to us ...well done to all concerned .

Hard to understand why David Woulfe is not part of the panel. He was good in all 3 games for the minors last year (fairly sure he scored in all 3) and he was by far the best player on show in the county final last night, especially in the first half. He would surely be an option to start at corner forward. I know he's committed to football but Josh Ryan from Doon is another who should be part of the panel - he's a massive man and would surely be a contender to start in midfield.

The show switches to Sumple Stadium Thursday. Team and subs below. Peter Casey playing for the first time since NaP-Cuala All Ireland club replay.
Both Limerick and Tipp look strong.
Even though it's a provincial semi, big prize on offer - an All Ireland semi final place. Losers go out.

Brian Ryan (South Liberties), Barry Murphy (Doon), Conor Boylan (Na Piarsaigh);

Best of luck to limerick u21s tonight. All Ireland semi final place at stake tonight as well. Good luck in particular to Peter Casey on his return from injury. Will be great to see him for the first time this year in green.

This is not what we expected - peoples expectations of Kyle Hayes at CB might b dampened a little after this. Look jaded all over pitch8

Poor performance to say the least, totally blown of it by Tipperary, the same thing happened in 2016 after winning the u21 in 2015. Our star players never got going Hayes and Flanagan looked dead on their feet maybe 4 games in 3 and half weeks caught up with them because they couldn't keep up with their men. Casey lacked match fitness. In middle of the park we struggled to win ball and I thought Tipperary had us well beaten in the half forward and half back lines. The sun in the 2nd half must have affected Jamie Powers puck outs he puck a few straight to a Tipperary man. Tipperary looked very good and put over some fine scores Morris and Kehoe looked very impressive tonight. Colin English caused us all sorts and Brian Mcgrath lorded it in the backs.

I know there wasn't a whole pile management could do tonight. But Oisin O'Reilly should have started tonight and leaving Darragh Carroll and Josh Ryan off the panel were mistakes too.
