First time in a long time we had a game in December. Pete could have a 100% record with us for 2017. Would be a nice start.

Should be free umbrellas for first 2,000 in. Any word on Pete's first team. According to The Argus there are a good few new lads. Good luck to them all.

It was very much an experimental side out. Few lads making debuts too.

Disappointing result but at least the rain stayed off. When we got back level with under 10 minutes to go I thought we would push on but Sam Mulroy's injury was a big blow. He was progressing in second half. Hope his injury is not too serious but he looked in a lot of pain. We eased off then and Longford took over. I think (hope) Pete was giving new lads a run but that he will bring others back to reinforce the team. Eight of to-day's starters play with intermediate or junior teams . You can get great players in the lower grades but eight has to be a strain. I doubt if many counties have a similar.situation. Really only Andy McDonnell looked like a "class" player. I'm sure things will improve. Why have we only a hand stretcher in the centre of excellence . The long delay didn't help us or Sam. 19616609 (Louth) - Posts: 1596 - 30/12/2017 21:11:54 2066315 Link 0 |
Suspected ankle fracture for Sam Mulroy, setback for him for a few months. louthman57 (Louth) - Posts: 292 - 31/12/2017 13:20:44 2066359 Link 0 |
Embarrassing!! What a hiding we are in for in division 2 this year. And more embarrassing the venue of the game, this county is so behind times it's laughable, On and off the field. gooch13 (Louth) - Posts: 656 - 31/12/2017 20:51:49 2066402 Link 0 |
Early days and first day out v Longford who have same mgt team as last year and don't underestimate that. Appeared to be quite a few familiar faces not playing but guess this gives mgt a chance to look at new faces in game scenario. Struggled on our own kick out and Longford did v well on their own kickout (Collumb excellent on restarts with speed and accuracy and hit few frees also). Saying that had Woods scored a goal to make it 2-09 to 1-10 as opposed to a point that made 1-10 to 1-10, would have gone on to win game. Missed at least 3 good goal scoring opportunities. Also, like the concept of getting the ball in quick to inside line but all to often, lost possession with this and thru the hands needs to be mixed in when long not working. Want to be positive but again, we as a county are setting our own standards and while Darver is a relatively ok training facility, it ain't no county ground that will inspire. Look at our opponents home venue, Pearse Park. Still dumbfounded by it. Oh to have a 7500 capacity modern ground housing a prunty playing surface with match lights. Speedy recovery to Sam Mulroy Red2017 (Louth) - Posts: 122 - 01/01/2018 11:03:43 2066418 Link 0 |
7500 Capacity, Was barely 150 people in Darver on Saturday. Having a big stadium would be pointless at this stage. DundalkGael (Louth) - Posts: 895 - 02/01/2018 09:48:34 2066462 Link 0 |
Big statement to make!

7500 capacity required to get our heads up a bit and reach for the stars and feel worthy. And hopefully have it full for big days ahead but at mo, we settle for muddling around in mediocrity. Quality of teams produced will be limited by the infrastructure that exists today. Red2017 (Louth) - Posts: 122 - 02/01/2018 14:04:53 2066487 Link 0 |
