Tooreen

Well done to Tooreen for winning the Connacht Intermediate Hurling Championship yesterday. For years they have the hurling flag flying in Mayo and they deserve their new found status. I now hope that the whole county will get behind this team.

Fantastic achievement. They are not the only club flying the Hurling flag in Mayo though. Ballyhaunis in recent years have been very good. Would be great to see them go all the way. I believe they play the Leinster champions in the All Ireland semi final.

Great to see Hurling on the Rise in Mayo. Would be great to see a few new clubs/teams taking part. Tooreens success will certainly lift the profile of Hurling in the county and may be a source of inspiration for other clubs. Playing Leinster champions in Semi Final - hopefully Ballyragget will win Leinster and will be exhausted from the celebrations!!

Claremorris have underage hurling teams which is something I had never heard of before in that town. Any other "football" clubs trying their hand at hurling?

Well done Tooreen!! an upset has been coming in this competition, ballyhaunis will feel hard done by last year when they should of bate ahascragh. Dont settle for this, Traditionally leinster champions have been a step or two above Galway champions so park the celebrations till the year is done with. Would love to see ye in croke park next year.

Tooreen will defend their Connacht title for the first time when they face Athleague in Athleague on Sunday. I note Tooreen were down a number of players for the county final against Ballyhaunis. Kenny Feeney, Ciaran Charlton and Sean Regan were missing. Will they be back for this weekend or are they all injured?

What? Do Athlegaue even have a team? It was Maree-Oranmore they were playing!

A typo I'm sure...calm down. Hard luck Tooreen but they went down fighting. I heard Fergal Boland was one of the best players on the field. Well done Oranmore who likely will go on and win the All Ireland.

They beat Athleague in October in the Connacht quarter final.
