Replying To iarmhi919:  "Interesting to hear John Donnellan going back to Castledaly if there's any truth to it he probably has a stronger panel of players than the set he had when he got them to the county final in 2015 with a few younger lads after stepping up, with Shamrocks,Gcastle,Cdaly and Rosemount it will be a dog fight for them two qualifying spots in group b. Think if Tpass get the right manager on board they are realistically the only team other than Lomans that could win it. McDonnell to Athlone is a huge appointment too."
I find it hard to understand how anyone (McDonnell in this case) can take a job that pits them directly against their own club. Maybe it's just me.

Replying To Paddyfla19:  "Dennis Glennon is one of the main reasons Tyrrellspass are a top senior team and the reason we have been in the last 4 almost every year for the last 15 years. I'm sure helping a team win an intermediate championship for the first time in their history is something he would consider important even after all he has achieved. He is living in Mullingar 10 years or so, I guess we are lucky he hasn't decided to go too 1 of the town teams. He almost single handily got us to the senior final this year. The only team that will not planning a celebration next year will be Tyrrellspass the lads went on a rampage for almost 2 weeks solid after losing the final. We are lucky we can't get relegated next year because we are seeded."
Read a lot of your posts sounds very much like denis talking himself

Dennis was one of best westmeath ever produced but just hasnt produced on big day in last 3 county finals. Its a pity that a man would leave a small rural club with great tradition like tyrrellspass. Saying that he should be still able to contribute something to an intermediate club like shan. Wishing him the best

Just a big fan like I am of all the great t pass lads who wore the maroon and white all up there at the top. Martin Flanagan, David Murphy, the great Mick Carley etc Ger Egan captained a westmeath team to two Leinster finals. Unfortunately our glory days are at an end when Denis and David leave.

Very disrespectful to all other Tyrellspass players. Although the lads are good footballers. Both haven't produced in recent finals. When big day comes John heslin and shary always produce for their club just like dessie Dolan did for years for garycastle. I hope for the good of Westmeath football Tpass are back again and challenge lomans for the Title. I think Athlone could challenge this year but lomans will again be hot favourite

In my humble opinion the best 3 inspirational footballers westmeath have produced are Mick Carley, Dessie Dolan and martin Flanagan.

Two Tyrrellspass men in it, we will take that. Agreed all phenomenal footballers in my view.

The other really `marquee` player I saw in Westmeath football was Bernard Flynn ... but that`s another story!!

If you are a big fan of Dennis you should have a word in his ear and tell him what the hell is he thinking of leaving a proud senior village club and going to an intermediate club , He will be going backwards if this happens . tpass is a great club and able to produce county players every year and with a few tweaks and a good manager can win another senior title

How has a thread about managers for clubs in 2018 turned into a Tyrellspass glory days appreciation thread??

Sorry to disagree with you but they are on a bit of a downward spiral now. Still one of the top 3 but a long way behind St Lomans. As for Denis, i'm sure he is a smart fella and if he does switch would have thought long and hard about leaving a club he has been with all his life. Maybe, like Flanagan before him, he lives close to that club and plans for his kids to play there. I doubt this is a decision made on a whim.

So the latest for Senior clubs is something like this:

Lomans: Dempsey
Tyrellspass:
Kinnegad: Cole
The Downs: Cleary
Athlone: McDonnell
Killucan:
Garrycastle: Dolan
Shamrocks: Moore or Smyth?
Castledaly: Donnellan
Rosemount:
Maryland: Dunne
St Marys: Bradley

Only reason any player should change clubs is if its not realistic or practical for them to continue to play with that club. For example a young man working in Dub or any long distance journey.
You don't leave a club that has backed you from the age of 6 all the way up to adult level just because you want to or because you fancy a change or because you think your club is on a downward spiral.
Extremely disrespectful to your club and teammates to think your bigger than a club. This is not aimed at Denis at all but at transfers in general. Lads are picking who they want to play for. Its happening with several clubs in Westmeath. For you to say he can play with who he wants is ridiculous

Time to start a new thread lads and leave this one for speculating who's going to manage what club
