Sligo Centre of Excellence now complete, well done all involved, great achievement.

Also good to hear Markievicz Park is now debt free, wouldn't it be great to someday look at upping capacity to holding a Home Senior Connacht Final. Feel our record in Senior finals would change for the better if we were at home.

Would be great if the Centre of Excellence was also for benefit of clubs outside Sligo town. Also any game I have been to there, always a strong breeze blowing, surely a more sheltered area could have been sought... never mind the drainage issues

What about the wind in Easkey, Enniscrone and Castleconnor?
Coolera not the best either
I say for such a successful county we should have a centre in each region and that way everybody would be happy!
Nollaig shona.

What does the wind in Castleconnor, Easkey and Enniscrone have to do with the poor location choice of the centre of excellence?

I am just making the point, that if the area it was built only benefits a small number of clubs, then it catches a very strong breeze, and then how many games this year were called off as Scarden was unplayable? Why was it built there to begin with? Most ideal location or the fact someone on county board was selling it?

I have defended Scarden on countless occasions and refuted all the silly begrudging comments about location, not a suitable venue, state of the pitches, etc,etc but this new critic that's it's too windy is definitely a new gripe that I didn't hear before. This is the last time I am going to get drawn into the debate. It's a fantastic facility. It is there to stay and it's time people moved on and drew a line under this, irrespective of whether you agree or disagree with it.

This should mean that Kevin will get an extended run in the team, something he was unable to do under the last Mgt. He is a fine footballer

Tourlestrane is unplayable so game is moved to Scarden as that is such a great facility, so lucky to have such a great facility on our doorstep and saves us fans travelling

I'm guessing Muscles is being sarcastic, a few things if you listen back to taafe on the st johns issue he said that when it rains heavily its not that the pitches are unplayable just that pitches would be damaged for months, so clearly there are being ultra cautious and trying to avoid additional maintenance and repair costs, with that in mind when they say its unplayable I wouldn't necessarily take that as gospel,

The south Sligo argument over the location and whilst its acquisition and the reasons were more to it, the location is about as fair as you can get and not that far off central, if you think travelling to Scarden is too much of a commitment for intercounty involvement I would suggest you stay at home. The wind issue isn't even worth retorting. It was windy in bekan last night, could someone not have turned if off or changed the location lol.

I was at the game good run out for both teams, two standout performances I thought where Young Mcguinness at full back and Adrian Marren. Without Adrian playing we would of got well beaten as there was no other players able to score and did not look like scoring, in saying that we were still missing the likes of Murphy, Coen and Cawley and there was two easy frees on right hand side for a left footer in the last ten minutes which Coen would of put over if on the field but young Carobine stepped up and put one over at the corner flag and missed the other, cant blame a young lad which was his first start.

Other than that nothing else really, For the usual's in the team Ewing and Hughes were very poor. Cawley got a black card. For the young lads making their debut i congratulate them and great to get a run out but will need to do a lot more if they want to keep their places as none of them stud out for me apart from McGuinness, but great to see all the younger lads playing and they will only get better with time and matches.

Can't believe I am in agreement with Sligonian on an issue. Must be the New Year.

We all know the pros & cons of Scarden. However we are where we are so let's just use it & make the most of it.
It's too late to be giving out now.
Good to see all the young lads getting a chance against Galway but Marren scoring 8 out of 11 points is extremely worrying for the year ahead.

Disappointing to see that Johnny Kelly has opted out for the year. Big loss.

Congrats to St Attracta's on a great win in the Connacht A league final 2-8 to 1-7, just astounding the results their achieving, credit to everyone involved and good luck in A championship

Also well done to Summerhill on winning the Juvenile A league beating Jarlaths 0-14 to 2-2

Congrats to Easkey and Balymote on their D qtr final wins too.

Can only be a good thing to boost our confidence beating mayo, galway and Roscommon teams consistently.
