expecting 2 very tight semi finals this weekend in the u21s. Liatrom from what I hear are the team to beat although in most cases they end up beating themselves. Don't really know what to expect of the cuchullians team as am yet to see them play although they did put a half decent score on the board again liatrom. If I was to call it I would go for liatrom to edge out Ballygalget and the crans to see off cuchullians in another tight game.

Think this u21 championship is Liatroims too lose. Don't think crans will trouble them, hit too many wides today and the forward line of the likes of the Mccrikcards and McManus will just punish the crans. Any set on the date? I presume the final will be in Downpatrick or will they bring it to the dub like last year?

Was at the ballycran game myself and was expecting it to be a good bit tighter than what it was. Going into half time the crans were 3/4 up and really whenever they decided to start taking their chances their lead was always going to increase. Have a good wee team there, very young tho, have a few of the minors playing. All the dame these lads are pulling their weight and if anything put in bigger shifts than the older fellas. I'd say they'll be going in next week as the underdog and I can see that serving them well.

Liatroim are a serious outfit and will rightly be favourites on Sunday. They had no difficultly putting the Glagets away yesterday, a Galgets team that only lost by a point to Ballycran so I can't see Ballycran troubling them.

The game will probably be in Downpatrick I reckon.

Crans never got out of 2nd gear that day frank, was just an overall poor performance from both teams really. Crans defence is probably their strong area and when looking at the results thus far near sure they've conceded the least out of all teams. on the other hand the liatrom defence from what I hear is where their weaknesses lie, all go up top but in difs at the back. Don't think it'll be as straightford for the rest of down XI as people think.

Cranman what do you mean yous never got out of 2ND gear against us you talk some rubbish we had 5 of our team missing some very good players at that so talk sense if they had of been playing the result would have been a lot different believe me remember that you only beat us by a point

Galget 1967, we had a couple of key player missing that day ourselves, most teams are the same in that respect at this time of year. Was a one point match that day as a result of the penalty the ref handed the galgets in the last hit off the ball. By any chance were you at the game? Would say the galgets scored no more than 1-2 from play. However like I previously said, it was an overall poor performance from both teams that day.

All ards teams together wouldn't beat that pick of down team.

Yes you can say Liatroim defence is weak, but look at the crans forward line. With McManus and Mccrickards they will punish the crans young defence.

So its only a matter of time till the Fontenoys lift Jeremiah and take him out of the Ards for the best part of 70 years.

Stevie wonder is blind and he can see what's coming. It is getting to the stage that teams from ards are not going out to fontenoy park. It is just like the intermediate hurling final.

How's the Fonts U-14 and U-16 teams doing then? Have they plenty in the tank to follow up these strong minor teams or are they running dry again?

Why can't people simply be glad to see Liatriom/ORahillys having a very good u21 team as that's a positive for Down hurling, the bitterness from some members of Ards clubs towards Liatriom, Bredagh, Carryduff, Shamrocks etc when they have a good team is unreal.....

Reality is it's very difficult in the likes of Liatriom, Newry in particular to always have good teams as numbers/interest isn't there and they are also dual clubs slightly different for Carryduff and Bredagh as they are two of the biggest 3 clubs in Ulster so numbers will be easier.......this u21 team is built on the sons of ex hurlers coming through and it's great to see, the young Mc Crickards, Mc Manus etc are class hurlers and we should be bringing them through to senior ranks rather than bitching about them and pushing them towards football.

For the last 3/4 yrs Liatriom have had good minor teams so they have a solid base to build on and push on over the coming years.......yes pipeline may be a challenge but they will only need 2/3 lads a year to top up the talent they have fir the next few years.......good luck to them as it's good for Down hurling to have more strong clubs or were some Ards people (I stress some) happier when it was simply a dog fight between 3 clubs.
